Guest guest
Hi, My name is Marcelle and I live in Cape Town South Africa. I have a six month old cat who has problems with diahorea. I would like to try her on a raw food diet that would meet the needs of cats including the necessary vitamins and amino acids like taurine etc. If anyone can help I would be most grateful. Regards Marcelle
Guest guest
I hope you mean raw meat diet. Cats are true carnivoires and cannot and should not be put on a vegetarian diet...not that they'd eat it unless starved to it which is incredibly cruel. As for raw meats, unless your cat is allowed to hunt for food, free range or organically raised meats are always best. I'm sure I'll get arguement for cats & vegetarianism, but with myself being a Veterinary Technician and my partner being a well known D.V.M. Phd. they can forget it. We feel it's horribly unatural, not to mention cruel and unhealthy to force a carnivoire to eat a diet designed for primates. Cats (and dogs) thrive on fresh natural wild meats and raw bones that contain many of the much needed EFA's that processed pet foods don't generally contain. Guest guest
Diarhea in cats can be caused by parasites, milk products, grain products or some kind of toxin. Does she/he get out to hunt for mice or other raw foods for her/himself? You might try a pinch or two of some kaolin (pure clay) on its food to help pass toxins through its intestines. Diotomatious earth and activated charcoal also help. Bunny
