Guest guest
Hi Group, I'm undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and am doing a lot of reading about diet, vitamins, etc, in relation this disease. If anyone has some suggestions as to books or internet sites that will give me additional info, I'd appreciate it ... as well as hearing about folk's experience/knowledge here. I am beginning to cut out dairy and meat totally. Starting to drink only water, fruit and vegetable juices. Also starting to add raw nuts and veges. Any suggestions as to a " plan " as to how to incorporate this into ones life would also be appreciated. I'm finding changing a lifetime of eating junk food (and thoroughly enjoying it!) isn't easy. But neither is cancer treatment, and of the two, I'll choose the diet change! Would also like to hear folks comments on B17 ...... Thanks so much for any information. Cheers terry
Guest guest
Essential Reading: 1. Your Life in Your Hands, by Jane Plant 2. http://vvv.com/healthnews/milk.html Terrific resources: 1. cancerproject.org 2. Michael Greger has a new video out on diet and cancer. His website is veganmd.org For important content on non-dietary concerns, see http://www.preventcancer.com/press/pdfs/Stop_Cancer_Book.pdf (65 interesting pages. I'm one of the endorsers. ) First instinct: be careful of fruit juices. That's pure sugar, not a good idea for a cancer patient. Where do you live? We can probably find you a local raw community, or help jumpstart that, via rawbuddy.com. Guest guest
Hi, Have you looked into the Gerson diet and the Budwig diets? They are similar. There are two good groups at Flax Oil 2 and cancercured I have a group called @ in which some people are using diet and supplements against cancer... I would buy these books: " Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide to Cancer " lists doctors across the nation with their numbers and addresses who have reversed cancer in their patients through diet therapy with or without traditional methods. This book goes over the common protocols of the doctors. " Flax Oil As a True Aid Against Arthritis Heart Infarction Cancer and Other Diseases " this book was written by a 7 time nominee for the Nobel Prize. It explains how saturated fats block healing, and seed fats like flax seed and sesame, etc. give off electrons which heal. She has taken people who have only 1 or 2 hours to live and saved them with her flax seed oil regimen. She is a doctor, a scientist, not a quack, and her discoveries about flax seed and proteins are extraordinary. This book is a must. " " A Cancer Therapy: Results of Fifty Cases and the Cure of Advanced Cancer " , Max Gerson, MD 1959 " The Gerson Therapy: The Amazing Nutritional Program for Cancer and Other Illnesses " , Charlotte Gerson, 2000. " One Answer to Cancer " The entire book is available on-line at http://www.drkelley.com/CANLIVER55.html The rest of the books can be found at Amazon.com. One Answer to Cancer was written by Dr. William Kelley who cured himself of pancreatic cancer in the 60's using a similar diet to Dr. Gerson's with the addition of a lot of pancreatic enzymes. Pancreatic enzymes do not just stay in the digestive tract. They circulate throughout the body and eat the shield that protects cancer cells allowing the immune system to kill the cancer. There is a video called : You Can't Improve on God " by Dr. Lorraine Day who eliminated her breast cancer, as well as her mother's arthritis at the age of 85. Best Wishes, Kelly terry <levamssg wrote: Hi Group,
Guest guest
Terri, I'm fighting cancer too, altho not undergoing treatment at this time. I had radiation 2 yrs ago and even with that I was supposed to die back then. Two books that I find very helpful are, " Nutrition, The Cancer Answer " by Maureen Salaman ( she talks a lot about B-17, what foods contain it and gives recipes) and " The Complete Cancer Cleanse " by Cherie Calbom, John Calbom and Michael Mahaffey. This month I'm busy picking wild blackberries, which are everywhere around here (Fraser Valley, BC, Canada) and putting them in the freezer so I'll be able to have some in my breakfast smoothie at least twice a week until August rolls around again. They are a source of B-17 too. Hope you get lots of helpful info thru this group. Myrna E S R E D eat something raw every day Myrna Mail is new and improved - Check it out! Guest guest
Margie Thanks for the resources. I've bookmarked the sites you've mentioned. I will take a closer look at them when I have more internet time. I couldn't find the Jane Plant book in my shopping this past weekend, so plan on doing an internet order from Amazon. Yes, finding " raw " , vegetarian, vegan folks in the St. Louis / St. Charles Missouri area would be great. Any info in how to locate a person or group would be appreciated. I'm eating mostly raw now. Found a cookbook and am expanding my just salad and fruit fare. Purchased a food processor, so with that and the juicer, things are improving. I am getting better at concocting tasty vege and fruit juices. Thanks for your help! terry rawfood , Margie Roswell <mroswell@f...> wrote: > Essential Reading: > > 1. Guest guest
Thanks for all the info Kelly, I am putting together a list of books to order through Amazon (didn't have great luck finding anything in stock at Borders this past weekend). I've bookmarked the sites you listed. My computer/internet time is limited right now, but I hope to have some time this next weekend to do some serious reading. I haven't researched any specific diets as yet. I have heard about Flax Oil and want to do some more reading about it. In the meantime, I'm doing pretty good going raw. Only doing basic salads and fruits right now (with juices), but am going to expand into actual uncooked meals soon. I mentioned to my surgeon that I was changing to raw foods and going to research other diet approaches ... whew - won't do That again. lol He wasn't too receptive. So it is great to find other folks who have info to share about what to read and where to start! Thanks again terry rawfood , Kelly Wortkoetter <kellykebby> wrote: > Hi, Have you looked into the Gerson diet and the Budwig diets? They are similar. Guest guest
Thanks Myrna - I'm putting together quite a list of books to read, and have added these. I'm especially interested in the B17 aspect. Wild Blackberries - yum. I've been doing a lot of experimenting with my juicer. Haven't done a smoothie yet - just regular juice, but I'll get there. Blackberries in a smoothie does sound delicious tho. I hope things are going great for you. May I ask why type of cancer you are fighting? terry rawfood , esred sez myrna <notes4mld> wrote: > Terri, I'm fighting cancer too, altho not undergoing treatment at this time. Guest guest
Hi, Terry, I'm new to this group, and I haven't read all the replies to you. That said, if someone hasn't mentioned it, a good book for cancer patients (promoting a raw, vegan diet) is " How I Conquered Cancer Naturally " by Eydie Mae. I believe this book is still available via Amazon.com. I am getting a great list of reading materials. I figure one can't have too many books. And when I'm finished fighting this cancer thing, I intend to donate them to our local Wellness Community for cancer folks. terry rawfood , " dubadee1952 " <dubadee1952> wrote: > Hi, Terry, > I'm new to this group, and I haven't read all the replies to you. > That said, if someone hasn't mentioned it, a good book for cancer > patients (promoting a raw, vegan diet) is " How I Conquered Cancer > Naturally " by Eydie Mae.
