Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to this group and new to thinking about eating raw vegan. I've been watching my cholesterol steadily rise as I tried to follow a low fat/low choleserol diet. My allergies to almost everything chemical have severely limited my life. I want to get off this track to nowhere and start to live. My problem right off is how to find time to chew raw foods with a limited lunch time. Any suggestions on how to do this? Next problem is how to find a variety of organic produce to purchase online. The local grocery stores have some organic produce but are very limited in variety. Have you found a way to wash ordinary foods to remove the poisons and is that sufficient? I live north of Houston, Texas. I know there are organic foods markets in Houston, but it would not be a viable choice for grocery shopping because of distance and traffic snarls. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Audrey, I have a suggestion for lunch. Make raw soups by blending ingredients in a blender. There are some delicious ones in The Life Food Recipe Book by David Jubb and Annie Jubb (I don't recall the name). There are certain foods that aren't bad to eat if they are not organic, like avocados and bananas. But there are many that you will want to eat organic, including peaces, berries, apples and others. If you go to the environmental working group, a .org online, you will find their list of what is safe to eat. Hope this helps, Judy Pokras editor/founder/designer Raw Foods News http://www.rawfoodsnewsmagazine.com An online newsmagazine founded in March 2001 as rawfoodsnews.com featuring authoritative info, breaking news, and fun interactive features on the raw vegan lifestyle. * Rated Number 1 in the Webseed Directory's most interesting sites list, based on how many articles a person looks at in any one visit. * Recommended by Writer's Digest, EnergyTimes, The Vegan Guide to NYC, the Japanese magazine Engine, breathing.com, and the national radio program Carolyn Craft's Inner Wisdom.
