Valerie,

Have you had the chance to go to Storm and Jinjee's

Raw weekends ? I've been 3 times now, and love to be

in their company. They are the most humble, laid

back, intelligent family I have met. Their 4

wonderful kids are shockingly different from the sugar

babies I usually encounter in day-to-day life. They

are bright, considerate, and relaxed. One weekend,

another family came to visit with their cooked

children. It was an alarming contrast and it made me

realize how hyper and unstable cooked food makes a

child.

These guys are the best testament to the raw movement,

but not as well known as some of the self promoters

out there. If anyone wants to know more about Jinjee,

her husband Storm, and their four kids, I encourage

you to check out their web site:

http://www.thegardendiet.com/

What I like about them, is that they eat raw food, and

just get on with their life. Storm has been raw for

35 years so it does not seem to be that big of a deal

to him. He enjoys talking about the raw lifestyle,

but, because he has been raw for so long, he has

hundreds of other interests that he also likes to talk

about as well. One of his passions is exercise. he

has developed an exercise program called the circular

workout. It looks simple, but will kick your ASS !

Jinjee with her 4 kids, is more beautiful now, then

she was before she had any kids, and ate cooked food.

And she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the

outside. They all have such a positive, relaxed,

happy disposition. Spending time with them convinces

me that RAW is in fact the way to go.

Hi, Rufus,

It's great to hear from someone who actually knows these folks and has been

there to experience onve of their events. I've only been aware of them since

early this year, through their website. I purchased their e-book package, and

there is some good information there, but I have never met them. Someday I hope

time and budget will allow.

One thing I have been curious about is the circular workout; do you have their

CD (or is it DVD) that describes that, and do you practice it yourself? Do you

think it is something that would be fairly easy for a novice returning to

exercise would be able to pick up fairly easily? I've now lost 40 pounds from my

beginning weight, and still have probably another 100 to go, but I am finding I

am able to be much more active already, with just that much weight off my body.

Thanks...Valerie

I do have one of their DVD's with the workout on it,

but I think they have another that is a step-by-step.

I have done the workout everytime I go, and always get

a good workout out of it.

One of the cool things about the workout, is that a

beginner can do it easily, and, it's still a kick ass

work out for someone who is VERY fit. Jinjee had no

problem doing it while very pregnant. It's only as

hard as you make it. go slow, and get a little, go

fast, and get a lot.

If you live near LA, you should think about going to

this comming weekend, it's discounted, because they

are making a DVD during the weekend. If not this one,

they have one a month or so. The people who come have

all been laid back and nice. I have made some good

friends.

By the way Valerie, CONGRATULATIONS on the 40lbs !

Thats great.

I hate to admit it, but I am just starting off on RAW

again. I did well for so long, but then went back to

eating garbage. It's been 5 days at 100% raw now for

me.

It's been a long and difficult journy, but I am not

giving up. When I first learned about the Raw way, I

smoked, drank everyday, took perscription meds,

recreational drugs, and drank gallons of coffee. All

of this on top of a lot of junk food.

I have been off of all the bad stuff for 2 years now,

but am still struggeling on staying 100% raw. I have

gone 30 days, 60 days, 70 days, and 180 days (not in

that order) but have allways gone back to cooked. I

am however confident that I will get it eventually,

because I have never felt as good as I do when raw.

By the way, if your looking to start excercising,

nothing beats walking. Easy to get used to, low

impact, and very rewarding. Just makes me feel good.

It soundes great, but I live in PA and have no vacation time left for this

year...and I don't think the budget will allow for a while. But thanks for the

info on the workout...I think I'll order it.

Peace, Valerie

Thanks, Rufus! I definitely hear what you are saying about going back and forth

with the raw, that has been my pattern as well, and it's really no different

than all the back and forth I have done for years with every diet known to

humanity! But the raw is different; that is the only one that has consistently

made me feel so well so fast, each time I go back to it. I've found that for

myself, cooked food in any form is a real problem. If it's cooked, I will eat

way too much of it, and it opens the door to all kinds of cravings for other

things.

One thing that is helping me this time around is a good dehydrator. I know some

folks are against using them, but I figure if it helps me stay on the raw side,

it's a good tool. I may transtion away from it eventually, but for now it's a

life saver. Especially with cold weather coming on, to be able to put some raw

soups, stews, patties, etc., in for an hour or two and just get them a little

warmer than room temperature is comforting.

Peace,

Valerie
