Guest guest
1)Books: what are your five favorite live foods books, and in what order? 2) Goats milk kefir and cheese: I still use kefir (made with grains) and some feta cheese, are there those of you that feel better with or without these foods and why? 3)Supplements: what supplements do you use, IE: lecithin, calcium, etc? (If you don't, for instance...how much of what do you use for a full calcium requirement?) 4)Grains, Seeds, Beans: do you use them or not and why? Do you soak (in whey?), sprout? I am using only non-gluten grains but want to know everyone's take on this. 5)The big M question (Meat)...do tell? What makes you feel better? Strength and energy? 6)Kombucha Tea: has anyone made and used cultured tea for any length of time? What do you think? I am three months into making the aged KT (the proponents say that the longer brew, brews out all the sugar and you are left with the fine cleansing kombucha vinegar that needs to be used with plenty of water). 7)Oils: extra virgin or expeller pressed for sure, but I'd like your take on this subject. 8)How long have you been on the diet? And in a few words what makes the difference for you in how you feel? 9)What is your daily regime, in brief? 10)In brief, would you want to mention of importance that I have not asked about above? Guest guest
cozad76078 <cozad76078 wrote: 1)Books: what are your five favorite live foods books, and in what order? 12 Steps to Raw foods (Victoria Boutenko); Raw Secrets (Frederic Patenaude); Living on Live Food (Alissa Cohen); Raw Family (Victoria Boutenko); can't think of the name of the other one. 2) Goats milk kefir and cheese: I still use kefir (made with grains) and some feta cheese, are there those of you that feel better with or without these foods and why? None of these foods settle well in my stomach when I eat them; I do better with basic fruits and veggies, with some nuts and seeds. 3)Supplements: what supplements do you use, IE: lecithin, calcium, etc? (If you don't, for instance...how much of what do you use for a full calcium requirement?) For now I am using a green barley drink, that's it. I only use that for now because I have a large supply to use up, and greens are the most difficult for me to incorporate into my diet. 4)Grains, Seeds, Beans: do you use them or not and why? Do you soak (in whey?), sprout? I am using only non-gluten grains but want to know everyone's take on this. Just seeds; sometimes I soak them, sometimes not. Grains and beans don't digest well for me, even soaked and sprouted. 5)The big M question (Meat)...do tell? What makes you feel better? Strength and energy? The few times I've added meat or eggs to my diet, I've ended up feeling very draggy, noticeable decrease in energy. I'll add more fruits if I feel like I need a boost. So far that's worked for me. Never used it. 7)Oils: extra virgin or expeller pressed for sure, but I'd like your take on this subject. Light use of olive oil, mostly in certain kinds of dressings for veggies. Sometimes a little flax oil. 8)How long have you been on the diet? And in a few words what makes the difference for you in how you feel? Mostly on for the last few weeks (a couple of holiday slips), and the difference is enormous; No more sleep apnea machine, no more shortness of breath when walking up and down smalll hills, significant loss of weight (a lot more to go, LOL), marked decrease in head and chest congestion, no more joint pain. 9)What is your daily regime, in brief? Barley drink 3-4 times a day, carrot veggie juice 3-4 times a day, raw fruit and fruit smoothies through the day, with a veggie salad at night with almonds or sunflower seeds, sometimes a " gourmet " raw recipe, like almond felafel, carrot pecan patties, etc. 10)In brief, would you want to mention of importance that I have not asked about above? Support is really important; if you can, find someone in your area with whom to connect. Online are a good support, as are some other raw food sites. Guest guest
Wish I could do carrot veggie juice 3-4 times a day ... I get so tired of cleaning the juicer! I guess I'm still being lazy. :[ CloudRiver rawfood , Valerie Mills Daly <valdaly> wrote: > > Barley drink 3-4 times a day, carrot veggie juice 3-4 times a day, raw fruit and fruit smoothies through the day, with a veggie salad at night with almonds or sunflower seeds, sometimes a " gourmet " raw recipe, like almond felafel, carrot pecan patties, etc. >

Guest guest
Carrot pecan patties, almond felafel????????? Okay, I'm game. Would you mind sharing those recipes are referring me to where I can find them? My mouth is watering already. As for cleaning the juicer--before you begin, fill your sink with hot soapy water, and after you are done making your juice, disassemble the juice parts quickly rinse them off, and place them right into the hot soapy water. Leave them sit for about 15 minutes or so. By the time you are finished your juice, you probably won't feel like getting up and rinsing again, so don't. Feeling lazy and well juiced is grand. Just continue to leave them sit. They will wait, and, at least, you will feel a sense of satisfaction from a fine blender full of great life sustaining juice. Guest guest
I have a book by Alissa Cohen, Living on Live Foods, along with a companion DVD that she sells on her website, www.alissacohen.com. These recipes are from her book. I'm not at home right now, but I'll be glad to post them later today. So far they are my favorite prepared raw foods (and I go fairly lightly with them, too many nutty things just sort of weigh me down). I'll eat them along side or crumbled in my salad. For the felafels, I use a garlic lemon tahini dressing. LOVE it! Peace, Valerie Essentially Sasha <sasha wrote: Carrot pecan patties, almond felafel????????? Okay, I'm game. Guest guest
Valerie, Thank you for the reply. I will go to Alissa's Website and purchase her book. So you don't have to spend your time posting them, unless someone else from the group has asked for them also. I just really appreciate your input as I seem to have gotten stuck in a juicing and salad routine. Carrot pecan patties and felafel's sounded great!!!! Thank you.
