Guest guest
Wow, I was surprised to read that Karyn Calabrese who is a popular veteran raw foodist is opening a new restaurant. But I can't tell from the name of the restaurant if she will offer " cooked " food or not? The " what's new " section of Karyn's site says Karyn's is opening a new location! Coming in January 2005, Karyn is opening a second location at 738 North Wells Street in Chicago. The new restaurant will be called Karyn's Cooked: Conscious Comfort Food. Updated information and new menu coming soon. Please call 312.255.1590 for more details. http://www.karynraw.com I'd be surprised if it's cooked food but I guess business is business. Guest guest
I was a Karyn's in October when she made an announcement regarding her vegan cooked food restaurant. She stated that this is a journey and she realizes that everyone is not going to be 100% raw and that she was an excellent vegan chef. She wants to offer people who are not raw another option in being vegan and helping them transition to a raw lifestyle. Guest guest
i saw the same thing.....even tho i don't live in chicago, i have been there (including last week while visiting....had the sunday brunch which was amazing!) a few times and love it. i spoke with her too and i forgot to ask her about that. i was thinking that too....that she is 100% raw so why offer cooked food to people? unless perhaps it is transitional food. kristi rawfood , " Christy " <yogafreeze> wrote: > > Wow, I was surprised to read that Karyn Calabrese who is a popular > veteran raw foodist is opening a new restaurant. Guest guest
Hi Kristi, I emailed her a few weeks ago and this is her reply: " Hi, Karyn's Cooked will serve delicious COOKED vegan foods. That's why I put it in the name to quell confusion. Guess it didn't work. Will have a few raw dishes also. Thank you for the inquiry. Take care,Karyn " So it sounds like it will be a regular restaurant just no meat and some raw dishes. I've never met her, what is she like in person? Guest guest
Hi Darcia, I may try to visit both restaurants in within the next month or so. I've heard she also has detox classes I may consider checking that out as well. ]
Guest guest
My girlfriend and I met her in person twice and she seemed a bit snobbish. My mother met her over the summer and said she seemed nice but didn't seem interested in chatting long. Best thing is to meet her and form your own conclusions. seemedrawfood , " Christy " <yogafreeze> wrote: >So it sounds like it will be a regular restaurant just no meat and some raw >dishes.
