Guest guest
Wow! What a MESS I made!! But a very colorful mess indeed!! Yikes! I attempted to make fruit leathers and spread it out on Teflex sheets just as the recipe called for. When they were done, I couldn't get it off the sheets. I had to run them under hot water, and alas it all went down the drain. Where did I go wrong? Sasha
Guest guest
They might not have been completely done; when I try to remove sticky material from the teflex sheets, if I try to do it to early, they don't peel off. Also, turning them face down, and using a small spatula to get under the edge, and pulling the teflex sheet off by pulling up on the sheet, rather than the leather, sometimes helps. Guest guest
Thank you for the reply Valerie, I literally would have had to scrape them off with a spatula. So instead of taking a chance on ruining the teflex sheet I ran the hot water on them and let them melt off. I am wondering though, if they were done. They certainly looked done, but never having made them before, I couldn't be sure I am going to contact Excalibur tomorrow, and double check with them. I will feel a little silly, but I am determined to learn how to make fruit leathers. If you find out anything more let me know, and I will do the same Again, thank you for your reply. Guest guest
You might not have made it thick enough. I made some banana leather and the first batch was thick and the second was some leftover which I spread out thinner. The second one I had to really shred it up to get it off. Guest guest
Are there any people here who are primarily eat fruit and some nuts? I've read that people have lost their teeth doing this. Is this a myth? I naturally eat way more fruit than veg in my typical day. I do drink carrot/celery/kale/beet/apple juice every few days. I feel great and almost never get gas. I'm just curious why people say eating too much fruit damages your teeth. Is it due to nutritional deficiencies or too much sugar? -- John de la Garza Computer Support (714) 315-5499 http://jjdev.com/
Guest guest
Thanks Kathy. I'm almost afraid to try another batch the first was so bad to get off the sheets. And I did make it very thin. I have to admit though it tasted good. Sasha ---- rawfood 12/06/04 07:38:53 rawfood RE: [Raw Food] Fruit Leather You might not have made it thick enough.
