Guest guest
Hi, I have a seedling persimmon which is a very delicious fruit and causes no problem. Unfortunately we wish to change things to suit certain ideas which we may have, and whereas the original fruit may be very beneficial and very nutritious, as any-one who has been involved in the process of cross- pollination, many of the hybrids may be far from being so. Guest guest
Persimmons have been on my mind too. I love them but at the same time, I am begining to feel that they are not good for me. They just don't feel natural. Among other bad feelings about it, they do something to my throat leaving a very uncomfortable feeling. I have had friends tell me that they are genetically modified but I have never done a research to find out more. But now. regardless of what the research uncovers, my body tells me that they are not that good for me. I think I am going to try and avoid them because each time I have them, I feel something is not right about them though I don't know the science / reasons behind it yet! Wonder if any of this helps?. Guest guest
I know a few folks who love persimmons, and eat almost nothing but persimmons when they are in season, with no ill effect, but they do have to be completely ripe. I'm not bothered by the hybrid issue (almost everything we have to eat now is a hybrid of some earlier version, from what I have read), but I do avoid genetically modified fruits and veggies. Guest guest
I don't get this feeling. To me they taste great and make me feel good. Maybe I have a different metabolism or something. I've just read that some fruits can cause harm, like remove minerals from your body. Things like bananas, carrots. Things I love. But other info tells me these are really super good for you. There is so much conflicting info from really good sources that it makes be wonder. From my expierience all fruit even the so hybred give me a lot of sustained energy. I'm not gaining or losing weight. I'm not getting weaker actually a bit stronger (I lift weights) so I don't worry. I just don't want to wake up one day with no teeth or something radical that creeps up on me. Guest guest
I gotta tell ya John, I love persimmons too. I eat bananas and carrots just about everyday; because I love those too. I spend the extra money on organic if I can find it. The information saying these foods you like as bad for you is just ridiculous. We can examine the claims of this information on the forum. Show it to us. Show us the information. Persimmons are divine gifts. Divine gifts, I tell you. I am very enthusiastic about them. :-) If they are the GM variants (and they aren't required to be labeled, which is utter disenfranchisement and utter evil deception), then that is probably why they cause (or caused) a reaction. http://www.thecampaign.org/newsupdates/aug00a.htm Those geneticists who have modified our plants and foods stuffs are complete scumbags. They deserve death--immediate, absolute, and eternal. I don't know if we can turn the GM travesty around, but we must fight against it!!! ....Hybridization includes every living thing (by definition). http://www.hyperdictionary.com/computing/hybrid What should cause us concern is the " artificial crossing " (which is the definition we think of when using the term) for food stuff production for characteristics that sacrifice nutritional content, etc. I am outraged that greedy scumbags are making the decisions about " our " food stuffs--decisions that don't have " our " best interests in mind; decisions that may result in long term, perhaps permanent, deleterious effects. We have to go after these criminals. These people must be revealed as criminal. There is no forgiveness or mercy. " They know what they do. " tev --- johnd <john wrote: > > I don't get this feeling. I get a big bag of 30 for $5.00 at the market they are $1.00 each... so it is way cheaper to go to the farmer's market
