Guest guest
I've been following our juicing comments/opinions/issues, and this is a summary based on what I could capture, please let me know if I have missed anything. I have 4 topics: wheatgrass juicers, non wheatgrass juicers for veges, non wheatgrass juicers for fruit and random comments. I am seeking a wheatgrass juicer still, and looking to get a great wheatgrass plus more juicer for in laws soon. My outstanding questions to the group will follow. Thanks to all. Juicer Synopsis by Michele (please forgive me if I have misquoted you): Wheatgrass Juicers: perynoid likes BacktoBasics manual wheatgrass juicer for wheatgrass for just a couple of ounces Jeannie suggested samson <http://www.discountjuicers.com/samson.html> and also http://www.sproutpeople.com/juicers/mj550.html Jeannie gets too much foam with the green star Brian Choi suggested Z-Star Manual Juicer for wheatgrass only ******************** No Wheatgrass Juicers for Veges: Everyone loves the Champion perynoid likes greenstar for leafy greens and carrott, but not for fruit , pain to clean Eva H likes Solostar II, even for leaves Eva H said juiceman for veges was noisy and celery would get stuck Valerie said Green Power, takes an hour to make 8oz of juice (too long) Valerie said juiceman or le equip " juice as fast as I can pick them up " The original thread complaint of the Green Power taking too long to push carrotts through (from John?) ********************* Non-Wheatgrass Juicers for Fruit: Everyone loves the Champion perynoid likes samson auger for fruit, but not for leafy greens Eva H likes Solostar II Valerie OK with green power for soft fruit only ********************** Random Notes: Brian Choi suggested single auger juicer and this site: <http://www.happyjuicer.com/juicer-awards-2004.asp> Valerie likes low rpm twin gear or single auger juicer ***************** ***************** My outstanding questions for our group: 1. Eva H, have you ever juiced wheatgrass in your Solostar II? Did it work? Was it foamy? 2. Jeannie, did you ever change from the Greenstar to another wheatgrass juicing option? 3. Any recommendations for an " everything including wheatgrass " electric juicer? Thanks and Aloha to all, Michele
Guest guest
Hi, Michelle, what a good idea! Thanks for taking the time to do this. Just a couple of clarifications: Valerie said Green Power, takes an hour to make 8oz of juice (too long)Actually, I think I meant that it took my friends an hour to complete juice a 5 pound bag of carrots; still too long for me! Valerie said juiceman or le equip " juice as fast as I can pick them up " I think this was John; I followed up with a comment that while these were fast, they weren't as efficient since they ended up with less juice, and more wet pulp. Also, I understand that the centrifugal juices added more air to the juice, increasing their oxidation; that's why these especially don't do well being made ahead of time. Guest guest
Michelle, I haven't done wheatgrass, but the Solostar is recommended for wheatgrass. I have done spinach, parsley, and kale which maybe come close to wheatgrass, and the Solostar II does an excellent job with these. By the way, it is a low rpm with a single auger. Since the auger is longer than in any other single auger machine it is supposed to do a much better job and produce drier pulp and get more juice out. I don't have a comparison to other single auger machines, but I am pleased with this one. Guest guest
Thanks Alex. I know about sproutpeople. The problem with getting the lids from them is that I have to spend 7.95 for shipping when the lids are only 5 bucks. Guest guest
Hi, Sasha, I have these sprouting lids (if they are what you are talking about-- one is red, one yellow, one green, with each color having different size holes) that just screw on to regular size mason jars. If these are what you are talking about, I would be glad to send you mine; I do very little sprouting myself, and they might as well have a good home! No charge...just let me know if you want them and where to send them. Peace, Valerie rawfood , " Essentially Sasha " <sasha@9...> wrote: > Thanks Alex. I know about sproutpeople. Guest guest
Valerie, Excellent!!!!!!!!!!! They are exactly what I am talking about!!!!!!!!!! And I would be happy to pay you for the lids and the cost of the postage. I couldn't be happier, Valerie. I have checked everywhere and no one seems to even know what I am talking about, except the sproutpeople. And I am not going to pay $8.00 postage. So, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I will e-mail you directly with my address.
