Guest guest
Dear John, I like and appreciate your openness and honesty. I believe that I am a person who is actually doing some, if not most, of the things you wish to do, and have been doing so for the past fourty years.I like your thoughts on radio as mentioned in another e-mail. Having been involved in radio, as hobby I might say,, and not only developing and presenting programmes on health, but in many other areas also, including classical and sacred music, a breakfast programme, and world music, as well as hosting others, am very aware of the amount of work and problems involved. I suggest you might visit my website at: www.iig.com.au/anl If after having done so you wish to continue this dialogue, feel free to e-mail me. Guest guest
This is what I sent to nfl... Am I being too harsh? They *seem* to be ignoring me ------- this is my second time mailing this maybe I'm being to impatient, correct me if I'm wrong, but I would think you guys would be happy to hear about people like me and encourage what I'm trying to do, if you guys are really into promoting the raw food movment as a whole as opposed to make a business of it. Like I said, maybe I'm jumping to conclusions and there is another reason why you ddnt' respond with zeal, forgive me if i've misjudged... here is my question once again: I am am a corporate software developer. I've been doing this type of work for 10+ years. I've been into raw food since I heard David W. on Howard Stern. He made me curious and caused me to do intensive research. When I read natures first law back them I thought it was ridiculous now I actually agree with it. anyhow, my question is: I want to somehow have a career based around raw foods and/or holistic health. I want to do something for a living that I have a passion for and love doing. I'm driven to learn more because it directly benefits me and people I talk to. Do you have any tips for me or ideas on how I can break into this new career? I'm thinking about taking Juiliano's class on raw food prep and trying to get a job doing that. What else do you guys think I can do or learn to help me move into this? I want to make a living but don't' want to come across the wrong way. I've seen some sights that seem like the guy is just about making money. I need to make money, but I want to spread the news about raw food and help and educate people while I make my living. any feedback would be appreciated... Hi John, The folks at NFL are not career guidance counselors! I recommend exploring these sites. You may need someone to coach you. A coach or mentor will teach you how to start your own business. They will show you everything you need, step by step. Two months ago I signed up for this program-> http://www.nitroincubator.com They are amazing! There is another group that may help you-> http://www.mikelitman.com http://www.greatnessheldhostage.com Maybe you're interested in becoming a professional chef, try this site, the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute, http://www.rawfoodchef.com/ If you're interested in holistic health, maybe you'd like to become a naturopathic doctor. http://ncnm.edu/a2aboutncnm/index.cfm Good luck! Guest guest
I appreciate the links you posted and am exited about checking them out. They know more about raw foods and the business of it more than most people being that that is what they do for their livelihood and careers. From my past career experience it is a good thing to talk to people that are in the same line of work that you want to get into especially if they are not counselors but instead people that have real world experience. I do agree that I need a mentor and that is what I am looking for. I know of cases where people have sold their stuff, quit their jobs and moved to San Diego to work for NFL. Maybe I am being unrealistic and should just keep this a hobby. I mean when I was a kid I had a passion for skateboarding, guitars, cars, etc and wanted to do that kind of stuff for a living (like many kids dream of). That was unrealistic, specially because I am not exceptionally gifted in any of those areas and even if I was it would be tough. From what I've heard, the rawfood industry may be different. I've heard people say that there are more and more people becoming interested. I'm thinking the most practical way to do this may be to train as a raw food chef like you suggested. Or if I really want to get serious to study something like osteopathy. I'm 36 and don't know if I would be able to back to school for 5 years or more. Guest guest
I want to be successful in real estate. If I email Donald Trump how fast do you think he'll mail me back? You'll have to do research and foot work like everyone else who has started careers in this field. Like my dad always says No silver platters for the successful making it on their own. Some of the online chefs like shazzie barely have time to return emails so be happy you received any response at all and keep looking. For someone who says they want to be successful you are easily discouraged. It was only one contact and 36 is not exactly elderly. I know people in their 20s just starting a business and in their 50s or older. Your self limiting mentality will be the cause of your lack of success not lack of an email reply. Even I know that and I'm in my 20s. The all-new My – What will yours do?

Even I know that and I'm in my > 20s. > > I don't think it is appropriate to compare Donald Trump to David Wolfe or the people at NFL. For one, they have a email address for questions. And they are trying to spread the movement of rawfood. I would think they would be happy to see someone who wants to dedicate a career to this common goal. For Donald Trump, I would just be indirect competition. There is no common goal, purpose or sense of community. I would hope the raw food movement and I think it is, is different. why do you say I am discouraged? When I said I'm 36, I was thinking maybe it would not be the best choice to pursue a medical career, that's all. There are still other things to do. I was just being open that I had considered doing this as a medical profesionial but am thinking that that might not be the most effective way. I am sure this is what I am going to do, I just am confused on how and what to do specifically. I proabably wasn't clear. I not saying my lack of success is because of a lack of email reply, but I was asking the group if they thought I was being critical. Guest guest
John, One way to find a raw business mentor would be to go to a raw conference or retreat or workshop, find someone you want to get information from and then chat them up, introduce yourself. Mention that you're new and want to start up a business and would love to pick their brains for 20 minutes or so if it'd be okay with them. . . be super-polite not pushy. . . then get their number or email address and follow-up. People are way more likely to return your call or email if they've met you in real-life first. I did this when I was starting out in journalism and it worked great for me. swing --- Derrick <vegiebowl wrote: > > I want to be successful in real estate. Guest guest
John, One other idea, I just thought of is call Tree of Life in Berkeley, Ca. The owner there hires people who want to learn the business.
