Guest guest
Hi, Sue, I became vegetarian in the mid-90s, vegan in the late 90s, early 2000s, raw foodist really just this year. It was only in June that I really took the raw food plunge, and only much more recently that I've gone more low-fat raw. So, I'm still a relative newbie, so to speak. But I've learned a lot from some long-timers, and from a lot of reading. It's amazing to me how much information is out there; yes, a lot of it is contradictory, but it's been fun learning along the way and seeing what works for me. Good luck to you! Guest guest
Hi Valerie, What positive changes have you seen in your life (physical, mental, spiritual or otherwise) since you went raw, if you don't mind sharing? swing --- Valerie Mills Daly <valdaly wrote: > Hi, Sue, I became vegetarian in the mid-90s, vegan > in the late 90s, early 2000s [etc.] Mail - Find what you need with new enhanced search. http://info.mail./mail_250
Guest guest
Hi, Swing, I don't have a lot of time at the moment, but I'll try to summarize; if you have any questions about specifics, let me know and I'll try to go more in-depth. It was not until I started going the raw food route that I began to see permanent, more emphatic changes at all levels. With the vegetarian and cooked vegan, there were some initial improvements, but they did not last, so I guess this is what seems to really work for me. I should say that I am now 49 years of age, just a few months away from the magic 50! Anyway, here's a list of changes since June: Weight lost so far: 45 pounds; have about 100 or so to go. Sleep apnea, using a CPAC machine since 1996, now sleeping through the night without machine. Shortness of breath with any exertion (like walking up stairs or a slight hill, etc.), now pretty much gone; I can walk every day in our hilly area for 30 to 60 minutes with no discomfort. Gastric reflux has stopped. Flexibility increasing (result of diet AND exercise, I am sure!) Head and throat congestion much decreased. Very light menses No longer have edema in arms and hands, legs and feet All joint pain has disappeared Eyes have cleared (I had problems with regular 'cloudiness') Skin is clearing Candida symptoms fading away More energy, rarely need naps, but when I do nap, they seem to be more refreshing Mental and spiritual overlaps for me, so I'll put these changes together in a list I have become much more 'even-keeled,' and much more optimistic (I've thought of myself as a dyed in the wool melancholic for years) I am much more focused Better memory (I think!) While I seem to be feeling things, both positive and negative, more intensely, the negative doesn't throw me off course the way it used to. I'm better able to cope with things that come at me. I feel like God has become much 'bigger,' if that makes any sense; it's hard to describe. But I feel like my world is expanding at many levels, and I think that is what feeds my optimism. One of the strange things that has been happening now and then, is that I actually wake up laughing some mornings. That is totally new for me; it sort of surprised my husband who has been used to the me that normally drags out of bed in the morning wishing for a couple more hours of sleep. I don't know what makes me laugh, but I'm not complaining! So far, that's what comes to mind; everyone has a different story, and it's interesting to see the kinds of changes folks find happening in their lives as they go on. Any other stories out there? Guest guest
I forgot to add to my physical list that my blood pressure has gone from 140/90 to 110/70, my pulse has decreased from over 90 to under 80 (still needs improvement, but it's coming!), and I no longer have anxiety attacks. Guest guest
Valerie, thank you so much for sharing your story. That's quite a list of positive changes and is very inspiring. Thanks also for sharing your age; I'm 39 myself and part of the reason I'm going raw is to deal with some of these degenerations that everyone seems to think is normal once you hit middle age. You also wrote: >it's interesting to see the > kinds of changes folks find happening in their lives > as they go on. Any other stories out there? I would love to hear more stories too. So far, I've encountered 2 kinds of " raw testimonies. " The first are all glowingly positive and are mainly written by people selling their own raw products -- for that reason, they make me wonder if they are making these fantastic claims in order to sell me their product. The second kind of testimony I see a lot of are from ordinary people who are struggling themselves to be raw. They have lots of questions, frustrations and not much time themselves as raw; that's why I really appreciated your testimony. So, I would love to hear positive stories from other people on this list who have gone raw. It would really be a lot of help to newbies such as myself. swing Meet the all-new My - Try it today! Guest guest
Those are wonderful changes Valerie. I'm new to raw foods and hope to experience at least half of these results.
