Guest guest
OMGosh! That's an interesting concept. You mean avos, virgin oils, good soaked sprouted nuts? I'll have to look at this book. I'd sure hate to give those up...they give me energy and keep me from feeling too skinny. Hummm...more thoughts? D of DH I've been trying to follow Dr. Doug Graham's recommended diet and my candida symptoms have almost all disappeared, and my diet is mostly fruit. He suggests that fat intake is more the culprit there than the fruit. I know this is just my experience...Valerie Diana of Dewberry Hill <cozad76078 wrote: I just wrote another post about my sinus drainage and being a raw newbie. Guest guest
I believe Dr. Graham would say if you need more energy and 'bulking up,' eat more fruit. I know folks on the vegsource board report eating a lot more bananas and other fruit at one sitting than I ever thought possible! But the more I go on with this the more possible it seems. Now if you are eating a large amount of food already, say in the 3000 calorie range, that means optimally 300 per day would come from fat; that's a fair amount of nuts, or 3 T of oil (not sure how much avocado that would be), so you are not going without these fat sources completely. He also talks about averaging things out, and not getting so caught up in the percentages on a day by day basis. You may have days of higher fat, but if they are balanced out with days of minimal fat intake, in the end you will be all right. I think the main thing is to find the eating that works for you, and then really enjoy the health, focus on all the other things life has to offer, and let the food support your life, not let your life get all wrapped up in the food. Guest guest
That is a decision I've made early during my decision Valerie. There are so many raw food gurus and health websites offering advice and supplements at a price. I'm finding that most of it is not necessary if you eat correctly and give your body time to heal naturally. I chatted with a woman yesterday who has been raw for over 10 years and says all she uses is food. Surprisingly she rarely frequents the groups. I guess once it becomes a lifestyle the need to search search search decreases. Anyway, I'm enjoying watching my body slowly change as I make slow changes with the foods I eat. I have no intention on going bankrupt while making others rich by purchasing " tons " of items and supplements when food will do. Thank god for the internet and library, helps me save on books and videos. lol rawfood , Valerie Mills Daly <valdaly> wrote: > I think the main thing is to find the eating that works for you, and then really enjoy the health, focus on all the other things life has to offer, and let the food support your life, not let your life get all wrapped up in the food. > > Peace, > Valerie
Guest guest
I know what you mean; I bought a lot of books early on, but have already given most of them away to other folks who are trying to research this way of life. I am still new enough that I find the various kinds of support very helpful, and I also want to help others since I was helped so much along the way. I always look into supplemental foods and other kinds of supplements when people offer them (not to purchase, but to understand what is being offered), and I have to say I have not yet met anyone who uses a lot of supplements whose life is drastically different or better than some raw foodists I know who use only food. And I don't think you should have to be well-off to be healthy. One of my goals is to find a way to present this in a way that makes it accessible to people in lower income levels. I think that's one of the reasons I find Dr. Graham's way so helpful. I think about the only piece of kitchen equipment I've heard him mention using is a blender. (He finds juicing unnecessary; but I still juice a lot--I really like it and right now find it helpful.) And as I stated in an earlier email, I use a barley grass product that I have a supply of at home right now, but once it's gone I'm not going to order any more, and see how I feel. I have cut back on the number of groups I participate in because so many were not really helpful, and focusing on just a few has helped me clarify my thoughts in a more helpful way. Thanks for sharing this. Peace, Valerie sunflowersupreme <no_reply > wrote: That is a decision I've made early during my decision Valerie.
