Hi everyone,

Merry Christmas! My Christmas presents yesterday from my husband included

Alissa Cohen's book and DVDs, plus some books I asked for from Dr. Doug Graham's

site.

I've watched the first of Alissa Cohen's two DVDs and read the first 10

chapters in her book and I really love it. I don't make many recipes for me

anymore and I tend to eat very simply, but my husband's decided to " go raw " and

I

think making some of Alissa's recipes will definitely help him to succeed.

If anyone asks me for a raw book recommendation anymore, I'll definitely be

recommending Alissa Cohen's!

Wow - Lucky You Carolyn!!! I put Alissa's book on my wish list too,

but didn't receive it. Apparently the person tried to get it, but

was too late to get it by Christmas.

I'd like to hear how it works out for your husband ... if you/he

find it helpful for a beginning raw foodist. I have been raw for 5

months now, and am beginning to go much simpler in my foods. My

husband is showing interest in raw food by sampling my food

(sometimes eating most of it!!), but hasn't yet expressed an

interest in actually 'going raw' yet.

Thanks

Terry

Carolyn, Terry, Y'all...Yes! I asked a while back what were some of the best

books to get for a newbie and someone recommended the Alissa Cohen DVD's and

Book. Wow, I'm so impressed. I watched the DVD's with great interest. They are

kinda giggly girl talk but the recipes and info are fantastic! And I've begun

making the recipes in her book even before I have time to sit down and read it.

I made the blueberry pie like she showed on the video and used pecans like I

think she said to do on the DVD and it's so yummy! My husband loved it but asked

me to make a honey coconut topping to help sweeten it up. I couldn't find enough

fresh blueberries so I got 2 packs of frozen organic at the health food store

and drained the juice after they thawed. It thickens up after it sits in the

fridge covered and is a real pie. I bet you could use many kinds of fruit for

the filling.

Also I made the cucumber dip. I added a big clove of garlic and a pinch of

curry. You could add some onion, too or cayenne instead of curry. My DH and I

like spicy things and the seasoning Spike. So I add my ideas in beside her

recipes.

She's got some real creative ideas to make raw foods very exciting and fun and

simple! Anyone know of any other books that are comparable? I heard of a book by

two teens that folks have said is good. Forgot the name.

Happy eating,

Diana, I too love Alissa Dvd and book. The two teens are probably Sergei and

Valya Boutenko they wrote EATING WITHOUT HEATING. Really nice book. Good

ideas. The Boutenko family story is really incredible and an inspiration. Had

the opportunity to attend a lecture and I was real impressed, They served some

food and didn't charge. We were just asked to give a love gift to cover the

food and their drive down. Thought that was nice.

Hope everyone had a Peaceful Holiday.

Wow - I'm impressed. I think the set will be on order for me soon.

I wasn't sure about getting the DVD, but your description of it

sounded so great - I may order that too!

Thanks!

Terry, as an ad for the dear girl, I think the DVD set and book are companions

and belong together. You will really enjoy the DVD. Her kitchen is so pretty and

the video was well done. Great colors and just watching her prepare and serve

the food up close, is like you are right there. The gals that are learning are a

hoot, too...and you get to see their before and after photos at the end of the

video!

Hugs,
