Guest guest
Many of us love Alissa's DVD and book and EATING WITHOUT HEATING has been recommended as a good book for beginner raw foodists. Questions: 1) For adding variety, does EATING WITHOUT HEATING vary recipes enough from Alissa's to warrant the extra purchase ? I'm not ready to spend too much time in preparation, so no involved gormet books, please. I will be getting a dehydrator and that's as involved as I want to get. Simple yet gourmet is the ticket! :-) 2) are there any better recipe books than these two? Thanks, D of DH Dress up your holiday email, Hollywood style. Learn more. Guest guest
D - I don't have any of the recipe books being talked about yet. I get some of my recipes off the net at various sites I stumble on. One book I do have is " living in the raw " (by rose lee calabro). I use it a LOT. There is a great corn salad recipe on pg 224 2 ears fresh corn 1/2 cup red bell peppers chopped 1/2 cup red onions finely chopped 2 Tbl lemon juice 1 Tbl virgin olive oil 2 cloves garlic minced Remove corn from the cob and place in a bowl. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Chill before serving. However, I've been reading so many good things about Alissa's DVD and cookbook, I'm sure I'm going to be investing in it soon. terry rawfood , Diana of Dewberry Hill <cozad76078> wrote: > Many of us love Alissa's DVD and book and EATING WITHOUT HEATING has been recommended as a good book for beginner raw foodists. > > Questions: > > 1) For adding variety, does EATING WITHOUT HEATING vary recipes enough from Alissa's to warrant the extra purchase ? > > I'm not ready to spend too much time in preparation, so no involved gormet books, please. Guest guest
I think these two are about the best so far, especially for beginners, but with different audiences in mind. Alissa's book offers a lot more information along with the huge number of recipes, and I think adults who are into transitioning to raw foods would find all the information encouraging and motivational. Eating without Heating might appeal more to folks who don't need or want all the extra information, or young people who are looking for simple ways to begin being raw. The writing in the second book is very simple, not at all complex, and the recipes are mostly the same. There are others out there that are very good, two by author Julie Wandling, Thank God For Raw and Healthy 4 Him (both with a Christian emphasis); the recipes are very good, and many of them are kid-friendly. Then there is another, Every Day Wholesome Eating In the Raw by a woman named Kim Wilson. This includes a lot of basics with regard to dehydrating foods, and a lot of simple good recipes as well. Some of the other books I've seen are visually beautiful, but tend to more gourmet type recipes, and I just can't go there any more. If I need something a little different, I check out the recipe list at fromsadtoraw.com, and Michelle's list always has something for me to try there. Peace, Valerie Diana of Dewberry Hill <cozad76078 wrote: Many of us love Alissa's DVD and book and EATING WITHOUT HEATING has been recommended as a good book for beginner raw foodists. Guest guest
Hi, Your website looks intriguing however I did not see any sample recipes on it. How do we know your recipes are as simple as you say they are if you do not offer any " try before you buy " samples? I have three raw recipe books sitting on my shelf gathering dust bc the recipes have too many ingredients and require endless chopping. Thanks swing --- Bryan Au <goodbryan2000 wrote: > > RAW IN TEN MINUTES is the BEST and easiest! Everyone > loves it! Dress up your holiday email, Hollywood style. Learn more. http://celebrity.mail. Guest guest
Does anyone have Bryan's book " Raw in Ten Minutes " , that can give a comparison to Alissa Cohen's book (which I have and love) or Gabriel Cousin's book " Rainbow Green... " , which I was able to review at Amazon.com.(and BTW was very impressed with it's near 500 pages, low price and contents)? Bryan, I wish you the best with your book, but I also want to chose the right books for me since there are so many to chose from. So since you are offering your book on all the raw food lists I'm on, then I thought I'd ask others what they thought. You are welcome to feedback, too.
