Guest guest
I agree with Roger; I'm actually beginning to enjoy moving my body while exercising, which is a whole new experience for me! Also, in listening to a Dr. Graham tape today, he mentioned changing how we view activity--we call them work-outs now, and we used to call it playing. I'm going to start thinking of it as play instead, and see if that changes the way I see it! peace, Valerie Roger Haeske <roger2 wrote: Hi Rich, I'm curious. What do you mean you don't believe in exercise? To me that is sort of like saying, I don't believe in being healthy. Or do you just mean that up until this time, you haven't enjoyed exercising? Exercise is vital for good health. You can't just eat raw and expect the best results. You also need to incorporate the other health factors. You are only as strong as your weakest link. I absolutely love exercise and working out. But there was a time in my life I hated working out. I found a way that I like and now I'm really into it. For some people getting involved in sports gives them a fun way to exercise. Others love to dance. Or just playing with young children can give you a hell of a workout. Guest guest
Re: exercise. I get up at 4am most mornings ... well some mornings, and go to the gym and do a mild workout. It is a struggle getting up and going, but once I'm there it is fun and feels great. So, you are right Valerie - a " Playout " would be more appropriate! I finish up relaxing in the steam room --- that is sooooo nice. I feel much better on the days I exercise - I have more energy throughout the entire day, and I'm usually in a better mood. If I don't go and sleep in instead, I can't get through the day as easily. Guest guest
Hi, Birte, It is from a 10-tape audio series, " The Cause of health, " which I purchased as part of a special offer through his website. It is somewhat dated material, and his perspective on some things has evolved since this set was made, but a lot of it is still very valid. I'm waiting right now for his new DVD series that he made with Dr. Roz Grubin; it's completely current material, and sounds much more professionally made. It contains a complete 12-session program. Here is the link with the description which includes information on each session presented: http://www.foodnsport.com/mambo/index.php?option=content & task=view & id=123 & Itemid\ =26 One of the disappointments I've had with materials I've purchased (audio, video, etc.) from various sources in the raw food world is that they are often of not very high quality. It makes them hard to share with some friends who are more used to a more sophisticated level of media. Since I was already well on my way toward raw foods, the quality of these products did not affect me so much; I was just glad for more information! And, because of where I live, I have very little access to teaching events. So these products are very helpful. I just hope that as time goes on, funding will become available that will improve the quality of these communication tools. I think that is one of the reasons I was so pleased with Alissa Cohen's materials--the quality of both the book and the DVD far surpasses many of the materials I've encountered so far. Please don't take this as a criticism of other publications--there is a lot of good material out there; it is just the physical quality of the media that often falls short. Peace, Valerie " Birte M. Guest guest
I do like how I naturally wake up early eating raw. Rich rawfood , " terry " <levamssg> wrote: > > Re: exercise. Guest guest
I knew I wasn't exercising enough and one of the resolutions I made for 2005 was exercise, exercise, exercise. I think it was in this group that someone had said that they purchased a Quest Easy Shaper. It sounded interesting so I checked it out on the web at Quest. It looked great but I didn't want to spend $169. So I looked on the internet and found the same identical piece of equipment at Walmart. In case any of you are looking for something extra to do for the winter, or for your abs, stomach, hips, thighs, butt here is the website for both www.walmart.com, and www.questeasyshaper.com. Enjoy! ---- rawfood 12/27/04 21:19:52 rawfood RE: [Raw Food] Ugh--Exercise Hi, Birte, It is from a 10-tape audio series, " The Cause of health, " which I purchased as part of a special offer through his website. Guest guest
Hi Lane, Sorry for the inconvenience. I was incorrect on the address. It is www easyshaper.com. After you go to easyshaper, be sure to go to Walmart to check the price, that is if you plan to buy it. It is about $100 cheaper there. That is a real savings. Guest guest
Here's a study that seems to show that if you exercise you maintain your mental abilities as you age. If you decrease or stop exercising your cognitive abilities lower dramatically. http://snipurl.com/bnt6 Just a little more evidence of the importance of exercising.
