I'm about to throw out my years-old " Custom 11 " Cuisinart because of too many problems. The blade was getting stuck too many times (I would have to pry it off with the back of a hammer, after scooping the food out and it was a big mess). And then when I could get the blade out to clean it, when I put it back, it wouldn't sit low enough and would fly off when I turned the motor on, so that it just didn't work. Then the last time I tried using it, it started grinding up the plastic inside the blade attachment into a fine powder. I had to throw out everything in the bowl--all of my expensive nuts and dates. So I need to buy a new food processor. Can anyone recommend one? Easy to use, easy to clean quiet and efficient. Cheapest I found it was at Bed Bath and Beyond for $199. Hope that helps Melody vegwriter wrote: In a message dated 12/30/2004 4:27:24 PM Eastern Standard Time, cozad76078 writes: * Food processor. Which one is the best for easy use on raw diet? Guest guest
Judy, I know this may seem really downscale compared to a Cuisinart, but I can't see why it's worth spending the money on it. A few years ago I bought a Black and Decker 7-cup food processor for about $40 and have been delighted with it. I looked at Walmart's site (I know, the evil empire), and they have a 10-cup model available online for $44.26, which looks much nicer than mine. It comes with three different blades. This one seems to have just one speed (and pulse), and mine has two, but I never use the low speed. If I were in the market for one, I'd buy it. See http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2684037 for details. Steve
Guest guest
One thing I find is that 11 cups isn't enough. I usually make salads in batches and it takes a few times with my 11 cup machine. I'd go for the biggest you can find. 11 was the biggest I could find. Guest guest
Hi all, A raw chef friend of mine recommends this one: Braun CombiMax K600 Food Processor - Find, Compare and Buy at BizRate! aside from the regular kitchenaid or cuisinart, i would pick the one above because it is inexpensive, powerful and has variable speed control which lets you do much more than the one speed, pulse control machines... you can really chop without getting to a mush, the design is superior for liquid foods, you can get accessories if you want them.. it's just much more versatile for raw food prep the braun is also very quiet compared to the others. Guest guest
I have much more energy than when I ate cooked. I believe I look better too. I lose weight without even trying. I don't know about the uncooked carrot though. I eat them. I've even eaten raw potatoes but I don't generally speaking, they just don't taste very good, and maybe there's something about them that I just don't think they're a food for me. Does anyone wonder why the plural of avocado, avocados, doesn't have an " e " like tomatoes and potatoes? Guest guest
I don't understand this sort of statement. Please explain how the carrot forms acid in the body? Isn't it true that all foods " form " (cause the execretion of) acid in the stomach? tev > > A food can technically be raw, like an uncooked > carrot, for example, > but not be considered " live " because it contains > starch and/or too > much sugar, and forms acid in the body.
