Guest guest
I'm on a sprout list but it's not very active, anyone on one that is? I grow alfalfa sprouts like a pro because I used to sell them...but need a bit of help on other things. I have some printed info, but want to ask some questions: 1) I've got all these varieties of organic wild rice that I bought just before going raw. I read in passing that it can be sprouted. Ideas, directions? Can we eat it raw sprouted? 2) What about the other rices? Brown? Colusari? I have these also. 3) read that only 4 beans are healthy to sprout: mung, azuki, garbanzo and forgot the other, maybe it's three? They seem easy enough to do...are they OK toatlly raw? 4) anyone sprout quinoa, or amarenth? 5) millet, nuts, sunseeds seem easy enough 6) buckwheat needs soil? 7) What are your favorites and your ideas on sprout use? That's enough for now. I've been to the sprout people site but it's been a while mabye I better o over there. D of DH Mail - 250MB free storage. Do more. Manage less. Guest guest
Diana, There is a bood out there, Raw Secrets, by Patenaude. He has a lot of factual information there. One thing he says is that we should not eat grain. That we are not grainivores, Birds are. I'm still learning about all this, so am no expert, but it makes sense to me. On the other hand, the raw food restaurant here serves sprouted wild rice. Yours in health, Lane - Diana of Dewberry Hill rawfood Saturday, January 01, 2005 9:49 PM [Raw Food] Sprouts? Guest guest
I don't eat grains. I don't look for sprouts. They don't have much taste anyway, and take more effort that is worth them to find or grow. If picking up a stalk of wheat and eating it was tasty, I'd do it, but it's not. Guest guest
Dear Diana here are some answers to your questions: 1) Rice: If you soke wild rice for 3-5 days and chance water tvice a day, you can and put some soya just before you eat them they are like a dream. 2) I have tried to sprout brown rice but that did not work very well for me, so I don't recommend it. 3) You can also sprout chicen beans for Hummus, but all beans are very hard to digest so I don't use it often. 4) My sister she have sprouted Amaranth and that did not work very well, later she read that you have to rins (clean) them very well before you sprout amaranth and quinoa. 5) ? 6) You can do it either way but you will get a different resolt. If you use soil you will get greens that you can use in salat or juice it. If you just sprout it you can use it as a breakfast or blend it with something and get a porridge that you eat with a spoon 7) my favorit is alfaalfa and mung, but since I have learnd that beans are not good to digest I have not sprouted them, to day I am sprouting lentil but they are also beens but I like them a lot too. Hope this will help.
