Guest guest
Dear Paula, Trish, and all other folks who struggle with this - I, too, struggle all the time to stay raw myself, and influence my kids, with a carnivore husband and two SAD boys, 6 and 13. I hate it, frankly, when my husband makes dinner and puts chicken on their plates. If I could only get home in time/feel healthy enough to do it, my little one would probably be a fruitarian! I am ill a lot and can't get the energy to fix the food. So I sit with my salad, craving what they are eating, and later have a huge struggle to avoid cramming the whole fridge down my throat. I have fallen off the raw wagon about fifteen times in the past two years and resolutely gotten back on. I know what I should do, and it's really hard to do it! I really feel your pain! Guest guest
Corrie, Reply to me off-list, I could use some encouragement too - maybe we could exchange helpful ideas. I'm in a similar situation. Nick Hein, Morgantown, WV (Former raw Seattle resident)
Guest guest
My heart goes out to all you who are in a similar situation. I encourage you to be patient with yourselves and those around you. I know it can appear hopeless. I have been raw for over 4 years. I choose to fast two days a week. I have a family that I still cook for who want traditional foods that they have been brought up with SAD. I have young adults who are heavily into fast food. Please do not despair. Know that it is only through your own example that others will learn to follow. Recently colds have circulated as they did last year and some of my children became ill. I reminded them to notice who became ill and who did not. I of course did not become ill. Many people comment on how young and radiant I look. I think it is the energy of the raw food that permeates our cells that is what is seen as well as my spiritual growth that centers me. My children and husband notice these changes in me but they are afraid. They listen and hear but they are not ready to make the choice to change. I have been changing very seriously and obviously in front of them for over 10 years. It has not been easy. There are still times that I feel so very alone but my hearts desire is what guides me to continue. Have faith that your heart will guide you always. Let love be at your core when you speak and they will hear you. They will notice and they will think about it. They may not choose to follow but they will hear. Be patient and let them find their own way. I have 5 children ranging from ages 30 to 17. I will off encouragement if you desire.
