Gosh, David, I meant to ask you a question.

In the Greenhouse, were the lettuces grown in gutters? that's what it looks

like.

I have a greenhouse (new to it this year) and I hope to grow lots of leafy

greens and sprouts.

Does anyone on the board here grow there own with a greenhouse?

I could use some pointers.

Thanks,

Trish

Hey Trish,

Yes, I believe those were gutters they were growing lettuces in.

One thing that was interesting about the TOL method of sprouting was that they

soaked seeds for a bit in a food grade hydrogen peroxide, to get rid of bacteria

that comes with stored seeds. They also used EM in sprouts and other plants,

see:

http://www.treeoflife.nu/farm5.html

For that matter, tol uses a hydrogen peroxide solution in soaking all

nuts/seeds, in last stage of dishwashing rinsing, washing produce obtained

externally from tol, etc. Eliminating harmful bacteria seems to be a driving

force in their methods.

Thanks David. Interesting link.

I think I'll look into the costs and logistics of using gutters! who would

have thunk it, gutters for lettuce?

Thanks again,

Trish
