Guest guest
Hello - We all of the sudden have a small ant problem in our home and I was wondering if there were any natural ways to encourage them back outside or a different direction - please let me know if any one has any ideas! Thanks -
Guest guest
They are the small ones - they seem to be coming from a corner (L shape) in our home, of course, it is right on the edge of the kitchen - my guess is they are getting in the crawl space and working their way up - but I could be wrong. If I can avoid being in a situation where I have to squash an insect no matter small, I would choose that any day!!!!!!!!!! However, my guess is there are a few steps that I have to take before that situation can occur! Ugh... Thanks for your help!!
Guest guest
I came across an ant community when we were getting our windows replaced a few years back (thankfully, they were not carpenter ants, so even though there was some tunneling, the damage was minimal). Anyway, I didn't want to kill them, and a friend suggested using a vacuum clearner to suck them up--that's what I did, and that took care of it. I could at least pretend that they would resume their community elsewhere (I put the vacuum bag in the outdoor garbage, but not inside a plastic bag or anything). Good luck, Tina
Guest guest
I used to have a product that was lemon oil and cayenne pepper. It was made by Shaklee, but they no longer carry it. I sprayed it along the doorway where the ants were coming in and they would not cross it. Maybe you could make up something similar with lemons and hot pepper? Just a thought - Shari
Guest guest
I believe I've heard that peppermint is a good deterrent. As a preventive measure go down in your crawlspace and make certain it is not getting moisture. Ants can sometimes be a sign of a damp foundation - in which case you'll be able to see them as a blessing for warning you ;-) Nick Hein - " Shari Viger " <shavig <RawSeattle > Saturday, January 08, 2005 9:56 PM Re: [RawSeattle] RE: OT - Ants > > I used to have a product that was lemon oil and cayenne pepper.
