Hi Shawn

I am responding to a very old message of yours about flax oil. Flax seed oil is rich in Omega 3 fatty acids. The oil in flax seed converts to DHA (which is also present in fish oils). DHA is very import to the human brain.

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for the information. Should I use this like I would any other oil in

cooking, or do you drink a capful of it? I'm not exactly sure on how the

product is supposed to be used. Thanks again.

Cheers,

Shawn

It is not good to cook with flax oil because heat ruins the oil. If heated the oil becomes like a trans-fat and is harmful to the body. The dosage is 1 tablespoon per 100 lbs of body weight. Some people make salad dressing with it. I mix it with orange or apple juice. This way I hardly notice it.

what about the benefits in a cream/oil/lotion of flax oil? I am in Massage Therapy and like to make my own oils; is the skin a good medium to get the benefits of this oil? -dawn

I'm not sure about the skin. I have heard sesame oil is good for skin.

Hi Everyone,

Maybe someone can benefit from this tip: Flax oil stores best in the freezer

compartment of the fridg. It does not hurt the quality of the oil, and flax oil

can actually spoil pretty fast at refrigerator temperatures. It will still be

pourable if you shake it a little bit, for the dosages you want to take. I put

mine in the freezer as soon as I get home from purchasing it.

Namaste,

I suppose it's never a good idea to purchase flax oil that's not kept

refrigerated in the store, eh? I thought that was kind of strange. Thanks for

the tip.

hi everyone...

i never cared for the taste of pressed oils without them being mixed in with

something

but several years ago, i went on a tour of omega nutrition with the bellyham

food co-op staff

om was pressing flax oil at the time and we were given a little cup of the

oil as it flowed out of the press

wow!!!, it was *absolutely delicious*

at the end of the tour, we were given several bottled samples of their oils

to take home, one of which was flax

so the next day i opened the flax and took a sip straight out of the bottle,

spit it out into the compost bucket and took the rest of the bottle outside

and poured it out on the gravel driveway

hard to believe it was the same product

i don't think it wasn't rancid, it just loses it's quality fast

i think you're way better off grinding the seed and eating it

norm :))~

...... raw food, simply wonderful .....
