Guest guest
Peta advertises these as at least vegan and cruelty free: http://www.peta2.com/stuff/s-cf1.html I'm a big fan of the Urban Decay line. They have a lot of magical colors and things that sparkle. I wear make up probably 2 times a week. These are typically business meetings where such activities are expected, or evening when I am going out, when i feel compelled to express myself artistically on my face. There's no use feeling guilty about it! We all want to look pretty, which is a part of why we're going raw. Guest guest
I have not used the products yet, but my research shows that Ecco Bella is vegan and organic. Here is a link to the FAQ area of the site. Second question down has to do with which products are suitable for vegans. http://www.eccobella.com/index.asp?cat=FAQ Ecco Bella is available at stores in the state of Washington: http://www.eccobella.com/index.asp?cat=storesearch & spage=custom & file=sny/script " Helen (Everett) " <email wrote: I know this maybe a vain question but does anyone know of any place or ideas for raw/organic cosmetics? ~Helen (Everett)
Guest guest
Great question - I have spent a lot of time researching only because every company seems to use parabens and I don't care what anyone says, they don't seem right to me! I love Aubrey Organics lip products - ingredients: Essential Fatty Acid Base, Sunflower Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Jojoba Butter, Jojoba Wax, PABA, African Butter, Vitamin E and Peppermint. To this moisturizing base, one or more of the following natural colors are added: Century Herb, Cinnamon, Walnut Oil (browns); Beet Extract (reds); Carrot Oil, Annatto, Bixane Herb (yellows). http://www.aubrey-organics.com/categories1.cfm?cat=8 They have a powder but it has silk in it so it isn't vegan. For powder I use a baby powder mix made by Country Comfort - ingredients: arrowroot, kaolin clay, slippery elm, comfrey root, golden seal, aloe vera, pure oils of orange and lavender. You can always add color by adding dried spices - just have to make sure you make batches and use them up quickly as there are no preservatives. I also like to use Burt's products - they seem to be pretty good and have very little in the way of preservatives - better prices, too. Here are some other websites I have found by reading ingredient list after ingredient list - haven't tried these yet: http://www.theorganicmakeupcompany.com/ - seems like the best for makeup - http://www.wildcarrotherbals.com/ Local company - met the gal that makes everything - she was great. Some sparkle lotions but no 'make up'. www.sukisnaturals.com - no cosmetics - just skin care http://www.uncleharrys.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv - another GREAT line you can add color through adding dried herbs - And, finally, you can make your own - I have started these projects many times but just can't find the time to finish them! I have a great book I found at the library 'Natural Beauty for All Seasons' - it gives you recipes specific for the season - fun, FRESH recipes! It is hard to avoid the preservatives without getting a little creative in your make up - but it makes it more fun because you add your own touch! Good luck! Guest guest
Hello Joy and Raw Seattle, Parabens are definately not good. I am watching the discussion on make-up and skin care and thought I should let the group in on a resource that I can be. Real Purity Skin and Body Care products are made from plants which are organic, non irridiated, or wild crafted. I am a retail distributor for Real Purity, I was the second such distributor in the Seattle area, now there are several, and I personally switched to Real Purity 15 years ago because I was seaking a product line that had absolutely no toxic ingredients whatsoever and that was healthy to use because I am chemically sensitive, my body has trouble with de-toxification, which is the reason also that I stick to all most all raw food as a dietary choice. There are also no eggs or milk products in the product line, and ingrediant lists are available on each of the products. They have everything available from cosmetics to toothpaste, deoderant, hair care products including natural hair spray, the list goes on and on. I carry most of the items or examples of the items in my home office and I do free consults to let people experiment with the product line before purchasing. I also send orders by mail. There is no shipping expenses if products are picked up from me here, or if we rendevous for delivery. I do have to charge Washington State Tax however. I have found that with Aubrey and other health food store product lines, that you really have to watch carefully because one item might be alright and another have toxic ingredients in the same product line. Also, Louise Williams, a Naturopath and Chiropractor that used to be in Fremont, and I believe is no longer in the area, found that many products that were supposed to be pure and listed as such were not pure when she did the kinesiology testing on them and I think Aubrey was one of them. Real Purity always came out as being as pure as it was claimed to be and she hightly recommended Real Purity. It is possible to have an allergy to a particular herb that for most people is quite healing, for example, I am allergic to garlic which has many positive medicinal and health giving qualities. So on a rare occassion there is a person who can not use one or some of the products. You can keep my number on file if anyone wants to get in touch with the Real Purity product line.
