Guest guest
re: I'm not certain I got the right connection as to which companies are owned by Monsanto. I found the Hain-Celestial website and their list of subsidiaries. (Hain-Celestial is a subsidiary or Monsanto, not the other way around. Companies are not always forthcoming about who owns a piece of them. Monsanto is one of the biggest companies in the world. Laura) The Monsanto site didn't list any or theirs though. Is there a place where I can get this information? Thank you. Nick Hein ----------- I got it straight off of here, bottom of page: http://www.organicconsumers.org/monlink.html This is organization run and maintained by Ron Cummings. Craig Winters of the Campaign (Who I know as a volunteer) as well as the producer of " The Future of Food " both vouch for his knowledge and integrity. Guest guest
Hey Nick, Regarding your friend with the biking accident. If he's cranky, your best bet might be to let it go and wait for him to ask for your assistance. You may be feeling resentful later at his lack of gratitude. Ya know what I mean? I've been receiving Pioneer Organic Convenience Boxes every Friday for weeks now and love it! Only $24/week. It's great.I think the person who recommended Pioneer to me, got some sort of credit on her own food. Maybe you could buy his first box and see how he likes it? Then maybe he can continue with it....and you could rebate him the credit. Just a thought. How goes your life on the East Coast Nick? I miss your smiling face at the potlucks. Does your son still have the seeing-eye dog? Do you have a bicycle business again? I sure would like an update on how yer doin'... :-) Your Seattle friend, Linda (W. Guest guest
Linda, Thanks for the advice about my friend. I'm still primarily raw (and it's still causing division in our family, but this is slowly improving) but not working on or selling bikes much. I do still ride them quite a bit. There is a very active road riding group, and several recumbent riders. The roads are quite scenic and have numerous high, steep and winding hilly roads - something I really go for. I'm also getting back into flying lightplanes. There are a few other raw fooders in the area, but we haven't gotten organized yet. I really enjoyed the feeling of community we shared at the potlucks you hosted. Even more I enjoyed hearing about all the non-food interests that we also had in common - music, biking, environmentalism, spirituality. You can see some of the things we've been doing on our family website. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze76ols/ Morgantown has been a wonderful place to live and we've all been enjoying it immensely, although Peter hasn't embraced the new place as much because it was an awkward time for him to move. We finished training the seeing eye dog and he went to finishing school, but was dropped from the program at the end because of a behavior problem. He is now with a family in Bellingham as a pet. At about the same time that happened we were adopted by a stray black lab who now lives with us so, and she has helped Peter adjust. Because Morgantown is a university town the quality and variety of food have been excellent. Recently I started getting organic produce delivery from doortodoororganics.com (they UPS from Philly overnight) and I supplement it with things from our excellent co-op (http://www.mountaincoop.com/) and the Indian, Mediterranean and Asian markets. Occaisionally I get to DC and visit Everlasting Life restaurant. Hope things are glorious with you. Guest guest
Hello all, I believe (and I might be wrong) that the Fleischmans marg has D3 in it which is animal source rather than D2 which is not. We used to use it until we discovered this. Right now we use " Earth Balance Natural Buttery Spread " It is great and is definitely vegan. We are in Ontario and get it from a local health store. Try www.earthbalance.net At 03:38 PM 2005-11-01, you wrote: >Re: Recipe for vegan margarine, anyone? > >Hi Mark, > >You can usually get it in larger tubs (much cheaper) at Sobey's as >well. Guest guest
I am looking for a CABBAGE recipe..... We have three more cabbages. One red/purple, two green. I am cabbaged out to tell you the truth. We ate coleslaw (hawaiian style with pineapple/tomatoe dressing). It wasn't a hit, because we had too much other good veggies (barbecue night), and it's better fresh. I liked it!! We ate skillet cabbage....this is good, but it gets old. The only one I know other than this is Egyptian mashi, which is rolled and steamed cabbage, rice/tomatoes/greens inside. And no one wants that now. To tell you the truth, it hurts our stomach somewhat, but I hate to waste it....I have had less hurt when I cooked it in the oven, so any oven recipes WITHOUT soy would be great cause we are gfcf/vegan/soy free......any good recipes out there? Thanks!
