Guest guest
Lois, Where did you find the Brazil nuts? I ended up using a combo of cashews and pine nuts as I could not find brazil nuts. I would like to try it again with the right nuts next time! Guest guest
I can buy shelled brazil nuts here in Yakima at a health food store, so are not truly raw. At www.rawguru.com , their newsletter # 7, article 5, says they put the brazil nuts in a large steel drum and heated from below. " As the brazil nuts bake.....the shells become brittle. After the nuts have dried a bit and become a bit smaller in the shell...... " . Fred Meyers grocery store might also carry brazil nuts. I think it takes the brazil nut to get the flavor that is so like real pancakes. Lois, from Yakima Jerrod Sessler <jerrod wrote: Lois, Where did you find the Brazil nuts? Guest guest
Is that a trick question? According to everything I could find on the packaging, it says it is raw. -yvette At 04:41 AM 4/23/2005, you wrote: >But, are they truly raw? > >yvette Soler <yvette wrote:Out of the shell. > >-yvette > >At 08:10 PM 4/22/2005, you wrote: > > > >Are the raw brazil nuts in or out of the shell? > >Maureen > > > >yvette Soler <yvette wrote: > > > >Trader Joes also has them. > > > >-yvette
Guest guest
Yes, but, at www.rawguru.com newsletter issue # 7, article 5 " The Raw Truth " , says otherwise. I remember those times cracking brazil nuts and you could never get a whole nut. And most would cling to the shell. So, in the processing of shelling according to this article, they put the brazil nuts into a large drum and baked until the shells become brittle and the nut shrinks. This article lists other so called foods too. Says that dates are steamed, cashews are heated, etc... Lois, from Yakima yvette Soler <yvette wrote: Is that a trick question?
