Guest guest
Hi! I sure would like some advise on choosing which size Excalibur dehydrator to purchase from the company. Chooses are a 9 tray Excalibur model 3926T (includes thermastat adjuster & timer-600 watts); verses a similiar smaller 5-tray one that uses less watts-440W; versus the 4 tray one that has no timer or thermastat adjuster but only uses 220 watts. Does anyone prefer having their 5 or 4 tray over a larger size? I can see a reason to have a large one during harvest season, but for year round weekly use, I'm wondering if with just two of us, we won't be filling up all 9 trays, and thus do better with the 5 tray. I'm also thinking that if we get a large one for home, will we want a smaller one when RV traveling and using solar for power. Thanks for any of your feedback. This will be my first attempts to dry crackers & crusts. Dancing .... in the Garden
Guest guest
Hi there, Just wanted to let you know that the 4 tray model does have a thermastat adjuster, or at least the one I bought does. :-) Audrey --- heartsongarden <heartsongarden wrote: > Hi! Guest guest
I never use a timer, but thermostat is very necessary. Timer isn't as most things need to run longer than the recipes call for, especially here in WA! And I would say get the nine tray because you can always just use four trays if that's all you need, but you can't add more trays to the four if you need 9. Did that make any sense? Guest guest
In regards to getting those slices of vegi & fruits all the same thickness for even drying.....Has anyone had good results using the " Original V-Slicer " that is also available from the Excalibur dehydrator company? I will save on shipping if I order it the same time. Thanks for All the feedback! :-) I plan to order the 9 tray model today, and then look for a Used 4 tray to purchase next year. I'm a new member up in the Lake Whatcom watershed, south of the border. Dancing ...in the garden......with the trees dripping with fruit!
