Guest guest
Hi I have a toddler who is only going to the bathroom a couple of times a day. She is breastfeeding around the clock and plays normally, but I am getting very nervous since she has not peed in 17 hours. I have recently moved to Pennsylvania and know no one who I trust for alternative health care. It's a conservative state and I'm scared to go into the system. Does anyone know which foods/juice would be helpful for a urinary tract infection? Any helpful suggestions would be very appreciated! Thanks, Jocelyn
Guest guest
Hi, Jocelyn, The old remedy was cranberry juice for bladder infection. Right now my cat isn't peeing either, so started her on Echinacea and vitamin C powder. Having to get her acid again. Echinacea is a natural antibiotic. What you need is plants that are diuretic, so I'm looking in my hugh Herbal book and celery is one such plant. It reads, " These plants increase urine production and volume in kidneys. Diuretic plants not only increase water elimination, but also promote the elimination of diverse waste substances contained in urine.... " Lists Carrots, dandelion, pineapple, celery, asparagus, burdock, horsetail, borage, agave, netttle, parsley, and others. CELERY: " It promotes the elimination of urine, and with it, that of toxic metabolic wast, such as urea and uric acid. " " Celery juice is very useful when used as general invigorator and remineralizer, mixed with tomato, carrot, and lemon juice. It is recommended for people suffering from exhaustion or nervous depression. " Horsetail: " Horsetail increases the production of urine and shrinks inflamed mucosal tissue, particularly the prostate. " I have horsetail in my back yard, and it is recommended for cats with urinary problems. Just brew up as a tea. " Studies have shown that fractured bones will heal much faster when Horsetail is taken. " Well, I hope this is helpful? Good luck! Guest guest
Get on the phone and start calling around asking about alternative practitioners in your area (naturopaths, acupuncturists, herbalists, whatever) who know how to treat this problem. Find somebody, a professional. Go to a holistic M.D. if you have to. Listen to what they have to say, THEN decide if you trust them enough to follow their advice. This is not something you want to play around with because you are scared. Mark _____ RawSeattle [RawSeattle ] On Behalf Of cooperjocelyn Friday, August 19, 2005 4:42 AM RawSeattle [RawSeattle] HELP! Guest guest
Jocelyn, in addition to diet, reflexology is something else to consider. It is simple and effective, and kids usually like it. Basically, there are pressure points on the feet and hands (and ears) that correspond to all of our organs, glands and systems. For bladder, rub your daughter's feet along the inside edge, just above the heel (this is under the ankle bone, but toward the bottom of the foot); and for kidney, move to the bottom of her foot, pretty much in the middle of her foot, but a little toward the inside (or big toe side). She may feel tenderness in either area--the idea is to rub out any tenderness, staying within her comfort level. I am a mom (and a reflexologist) who has seen amazing results with this simple, drug-free method of healing. Feel free to e-mail me or call me for further info. Guest guest
Did you give her the celery juice, and did it help any? I have never had children, but when my cats get sick it worries me, as they are like my kids. And I have learnt to use natural remedies, as I have a few books on it. But, I know having a sick child is a lot different than a cat. I hope she is better now and you can find a natural type doctor there in PA. I'm wonder, since you say you are breast feeding, could you be eating something that caused your baby to stop urinating? They say, what the mother eats or drinks has an effect on the baby as well. Just my thoughts! Lois WORLDLEARN wrote: Hi Lois, Thanks a lot for your reply. I really appreciate the response and the support!
