Guest guest
I got back Monday morning from a whirlwind weekend in LA (and went right to work!) From Friday to Monday I may have gotten 9 hours sleep. I took an early morning flight Saturday to San Diego and drove to Paramount Studios near Burbank and began helping out, assisting the Chef and other staff (I didn't have a booth this time around, opting instead to volunteer) The staff was great! The music was terrific (Shiela E, et al). The awards ceremonies were excellent. The celebrities did a great job too! The food was awesome according to many visitors. The vendors included 5 different tables that offered raw foods/products. A few were Down to Earth (NJ), Bryan Au (Raw in Ten, Pa-Raw-Dise), and Natures First Law. There was also a table next to D-T-E that offered a variety of flax seed crackers and a variety of hummuses. I don't recall the name. There was even a booth offering some raw (vegan) ice cream (I still prefer my Vice Cream®.) I talked to David Wolfe. He asked me about our raw restaurant in Seattle (Chaco Canyon). Perhaps he'll be visiting it. I saw a couple Seattle residents, Francis and Carol Janes, who owned Cafe Ambrosia and served up some amazing raw meals. Anyway, it was great to see that much raw food at the event (not just because I was hungry!) and see the continuing influence of raw foods. I also ate at Au Loc in Huntington Beach on Sunday, where Chef Ito offers some terrific raw foods. Jeff PS: Here's a forward of part of an email from one of the events coordinators: Dennis Rodman said the food was so amazing that he's going vegetarian. P!nk said it was one of the best nights of her life. Elisabeth Rohm said the night " changed her life. " Persia White said it was the " the best event she'd ever been to. " Folks from Comedy Central--amazed at the food and going vegetarian. Producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Richard Donner said it was one of the best parties they'd ever seen and they are going vegetarian. PETA managers, directors and staffers--most of whom worked the past 3 big events--are all saying the food at this Gala was the best food PETA has ever had, period. Bar none. I am getting e-mails from everyone telling me that the Food Donors and the Food Volunteers were the best organized, hardest working, and most positive team PETA has ever had. Guest guest
Hi Jeff, Wow, so glad to hear about all the raw food at the PETA gala. I've been a member since 92 and have always wanted to go to one of their big events. Unfortunately, I am so out of the loop that I only recognized a couple of the *stars*. Next year I would love to volunteer making raw eats. :-) Christy
