Guest guest
As someone who usually doesn't read most of the posts on this the list (too much Natural Hygiene pontification for my tastes), I have found the Handwashing Dialogue/Debate riveting--a true example of why this list exists: for those of us in the raw community to openly express and discuss important issues. As so many people on this list have strong opinions on whether or not to wash one's hands (and produce) I find that this is an important issue. As a chef I wash my hands frequently not necessary as the result of a belief in the germ theory, but as a precaution and because in professional settings, it is a state food sanititation regulation. I don't always wash my produce, but I definitely do if I'm usuing it in a professional situation (regulations again) and at home do if I see lots of soil at the roots. I have gotten e-coli food poisoning from unwashed greens grown in organic soil that was ammended with animal manure. All in all: thanks for the firey posts--this list needs some excitment to spice it up from time to time! Viva the Dialogue/Debate!!!
