Guest guest
Raw Seattle, Some info to contemplate...A dialogue with Lois & I on feeding cats raw: Lois, I suppose it is ok to give a supplemented veggie diet to cats if you have no other choice or if it goes against your values, morals, etc to feed them otherwise. In any case, I choose to follow the cat's will for sustenance; not mine. I agree w/ Nora on this. I have noticed a wonderful temperament in my cats; being more kitten-like on a raw diet. ~shakti Lois Cole <loisc100 wrote: Oh, I am not feeding a vegetarian diet to my Siamese/Himalayan mix. If the cat has been eating a standard can food diet for more than 1 year of it's life, it can be a challenge to transition them to raw meat. I started my Siamese (that Orion has now) on 1/3 raw to 2/3rd non raw. You may want to consider mixing a little raw meat in with the vegetarian food she is eating. Gradually switch some more raw in with each feeding or go 1/2 and 1/2. chicken necks are affordable and easy to serve up. I defrost them before going to bed so my Calypso and the other cats at my new house have their fresh 'kill' first thing in the morning. I notice they eat slower with more consciousness and this meat would go to waste otherwise. Sometimes the butcher just throws the necks and backs away. These are the most nutrient rich pieces for the feline family. If handling whole poultry parts is disturbing to you, I would recommend serving your kitty some " Raw Advantage " in the freezer section at Mud Bay Grananry in the same proportions for more money. She hisses and growls and claws and bites. She's a Siamese!! Yet, she can be loving with me, especially when my husband isn't around. Anyway, I was thinking about diet, as a means to change her personality. Lois FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click. FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click. Guest guest
I'm afraid my husband is against either the raw or the vegan diet. Then, this morning he feeds our outside cat her helping of canned and I got to thinking how the inside cat will always smell and see this. So, been thinking! Why not add sprouts and raw poultry to her canned? Personally, I'd rather have a vegan cat, and suppliment with enzymes. Afterall, the point of raw meats is the enzymes, not the meat itself. Ann Wigmore fed a raw vegetarian diet to her dogs & cats and reported excellant health. Guest guest
I am adding enzymes and sprouts to the canned, as Ann Wigmore says in her Sprouting book. I think adding sprouts is a great idea for indoor cats. As far as the vegetarian recipes, they are cooked and they add enzymes and vegecat suppliments to it. It has been proven to work, and the cats tend to like other veggies and fruits as well. Such as cantalope!
