Guest guest
Hello, I'm a going to start caring for an Autistic child. His mother has him on a very restricted, mostly organic diet. She is a phenomenal woman who is doing everything in her power to expose the link between mercury/vaccinations and autism. I haven't asked her if she's tried the raw food diet yet. Can any of you shed some light on autism and how a raw food diet might affect it? This boy is allergic to all nuts except cashews and several fruits are off limits. He's allergic to soy, most beans, gluten & corn, so he does eat some organic meat. Any suggestions on how to approach this boy's mom about raw food would also be very helpful. Thank you. Blessings, Sheree " Common sense ain't common. " - Will Rogers Mail Use Photomail to share photos without annoying attachments.
Guest guest
Hi Sheree, One of the raw foods boards I read has had several threads about autism and I know at least two of the members there have had kids that have improved on a raw diet. Go to http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2 and then do a search (click on the banana on the top of the page) for autism and you will see the threads. You might also want to add a post there asking about it again. Take care, Audrey --- Sheree <goldenrae2001 wrote: > Hello, > I'm a going to start caring for an Autistic child. > His mother has him on a very restricted, mostly > organic diet. Guest guest
I don't know about its direct affect on autism, but given the many allergies, a good place to start is lots of greens, and perhaps non-sweet fruits (cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes (how is he with nightshades?)). Of any category of foods, I believe greens are the best for us (though I wish it were chocolate!) Last night and today I had big salads with (all organic) cucumbers, napa cabbage, avocado, tomato, and lots of arugula! The arugula tasted wonderful! I don't recall it tasting that good. Perhaps it was a better batch or maybe my body just wanted more. Jeff
Guest guest
This article is not about raw food, bud does mention autism. I believe most all disease is related to diet, but didn't know of the specific link of gluten to autism. Perhaps it is mentioned in the book " Grain Damage " , by Dr. Doug Graham (raw food teacher, author, lecturer.) FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A Florida family has sued McDonald's Corp. in federal court, claiming that the fast food giant falsely advertised its French fries as wheat- and dairy-free. In their suit, David and Cherilyn Levy of Coral Springs claim they began feeding their daughter Sydni, now 5, a gluten-free diet after doctors diagnosed her with autism, to help her symptoms. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye and other grains.
