It's not a " strategy " . If I am thirsty I drink. If I am not thirsty and

am plenty hydrated I don't usually drink extra water. I probably should

has said we are meant to get MOST of our hydration from our foods. If I

don't feel a need to drink and have no symptoms of a need for drinking

water (thirst, dry mouth and throat, dark urine, etc.) then I usually

don't drink it. An exception may be if I am in a dryer climate and have

learned that I become dehydrated more easily, I may drink extra water

before walks/hikes, etc. or brink extra fruit and/or water. It's not a

rule, just opinion based on my experiences.

I never mentioned anything about " avoiding " water. If I am not thirsty

and have no need to drink water, then I don't. I don't force myself to

consume something I do not feel a need to consume. Whether I am on a 15

mile hike, or just at work for the day. If I am hydrated, urinating

many times throughout the day and the color is light and not thirsty, I

do not force myself to drink. If I am thirsty I drink. I just tend to

not have a great deal of need for drinking straight water. Once in a

while I am thirsty and drink water.

The foods I eat make me noticeably more hydrated than foods I ate years

ago (cooked, etc.), so don't need much additional water, sometimes no

additional water. Try eating only watermelon or other melons all day.

You probably wouldn't have much interest in drinking additional water.

It's true that many foods can dehydrate us and require more hydration

from elsewhere (like water). I find I feel better when avoiding

dehydrated foods. I do get thirsty when I eat dehydrated foods. I don't

believe them to be ideal foods (but they sure can be tasty).

Hi,

I have been predominantly raw for 9 years.

I did it because of headaches and migraines.

For the first two years I was totally pain free.

Then I began drinking water because I never did

and was told it was a MUST.

I've never liked water.

Anyway about the same time I was also eating a little

cooked food and

put the return of the h'aches and migrines down to

that.

So two years ago I went all raw again and the pain

situation improved but didn't GO.

I kept going back time and time again to the first two

years - what did I do or not do then that I wasn't doing

or not doing now. ? ?

I battled with that question for about 18 months and

finally couldn't come up with an answer

until I thought of WATER

NOW I was drinking two to three litres of water a day

whether I wanted it or not.

So as a test, I decided to drink only when thirsty (which

isn't often)

A N D now ......... no more pain..... no more bloated

stomach. ! !

How interesting I am thinking.........

Were *I* to do this, I'd form cystine kidney stones like crazy. I

drink several gallons on a typical day.
