Guest guest
Hello. I'm wondering if there are any parents of raw children on this list. Thanks! Laura (another one)
Guest guest
Hi Laura, I have 3 kids. Some days, they're 100% raw, but usually they're about 75% raw. I work at it and try my best to balance my wishes for healthy choices with the kids' individual circumstances. Jocelyn Laura <lelskan RawSeattle Wed, 22 Mar 2006 22:23:20 -0000 [RawSeattle] Raw Kids? Guest guest
Jocelyn, I'd like to hear some sample breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks that you give to your kids. Guest guest
We have 3 kids that are mostly raw. Our oldest is 4-1/2. All have been vegan since birth, breast fed, 90% raw and without immunizations. None have ever been sick beyond a runny nose when teething or when they get to much simple carbs. They eat Barley, Beet & Carrot juice powder (by Hallelujah Acres) dry first thing in the morning and often have some melons with nuts and berries. Lunch is normally a salad, what we call a grazing salad (just cut up raw veggies for snacks) or a vegan sandwich on toasted vegan bread. Dinner is similar with regular variations from one of many raw food books we pull recipes from. Snacks consist mainly of avocados, bananas, raisons, dates, nuts but also includes some process snacks such as vegan animal crackers or other marginal treats. All non-raw (processed or cooked foods) are kept to a minimum by everyone and it has not be a huge difficulty to train the kids. Outside the home seems to be the place that most people struggle. The answer is simply in the following: A) Conviction (belief that what you are doing is right even though others won't agree - don't stress about what they think or say, one day, they may come to you for advise after a diagnosis or when they are just tired of feeling like junk physically) B) Planning (you have to plan ahead and be prepared for various circumstances - we live in a social culture that often includes food so we need to have good food available in those times) C) Unity (your whole family needs to be on board with this. It is very difficult to have a house full of junk food and expect to be able to do well there and when you go out - you will often feel like a hypocrite because you can't be disciplined at home and thus fall again when you are out - it starts at home and trying to make good choices with junk food all around is nearly impossible) Hope this helps, Jerrod Sessler Racecar Driver Sessler Motorsports Marketing 206.387.7090 www.jerrodsessler.com www.hope4health.org " Eating meat or dairy causes disease "
