Guest guest
Hello all, I'm new to the group and new to Washington as well. Moved here about two months ago. I've tried to go raw in the past and failed. I am trying again and am looking for others in my area that I can meet with for support and friendship. I live in North Everett and am wondering if there are others here from North Everett who would maybe like to get together. I think everyone who is raw knows that it is hard to be successful at it without proper support and encouragement. I've never actually met any others who are 100% raw before, so it would help a lot to see that YES there are actually others who have done it and are doing it successfully. Well, its good to be here and hope that I can hopefully meet some of you in my area. Thanks! Guest guest
Hello John B, My daughter and I are trying very hard to be 100% raw. We are doing ok for right now. The only cooked thing we eat is Ezekial 4:9 bread. We have been trying to be raw for the past year. The reason we find it so hard is that my husband is not supportive. He trips us up alot. He doesn't try to ... but he wants to live a normal American lifestyle which includes the SAD diet and feels put out that he can't suggest going out to eat all the time. Many times we are out and he is hungry and get's very grumpy when he is hungry.. so my daughter and I give in to his intimidating, grumpy and controlling behavior and in the process.. eat cooked food. We can't suggest raw restaurants or even organic healthy cooked ones. He is not interested! I have a weakness in my Character in that I still crave cooked foods.. so when we go out to eat.. I just don't have the strength to ask only for raw veges. We live in Monroe.. just moved from Ohio. We would very much like to get together with other raw foodists. Perhaps we can support each other. Even though we are not as successful as you suggested, perhaps we can become so by our mutual support and encouragement! Guest guest
wow. I admire you both for eating so well without support. I live in Port Townsend and there is a lot of support here but even so, since my husband other family and friends don't eat like this, I still find it difficult. I decided that 90% raw works for me. There is a retreat this weekend in Sedro Wooley I think, and I read a post here that you could attend a lecture Saturday night by Gabriel Cousins. Guest guest
Diane ... but he wants to live a normal American lifestyle which includes the SAD diet and feels put out that he can't suggest going out to eat all the time. Seriously look at the reasons you want to be raw. Be truthful with yourself. To maintain any new way of life you choose, you must commit to a lifestyle change. Notice I said you. I have been raw for almost 6 years. I too have a family that practices SAD. I even still cook for them. I do not preach to them about the negative effects of their lifestyle instead I rely on the example that I set. My youngest son (who is now 18) now eats a little more healthier. I would love it if my family would become raw, but it was not meant to be. At first they were very afraid that I would try to " convert " them. Soon they realized I was not a " threat " and accepted that I chose to be " different " . We go out to eat occasionally. I ask only that we go to a place where I can have a salad. I am not opposed to bringing supplemental foods with me to enhance the salad I am served. I have never had a problem anywhere. I always bless my food before eating it. I do my best to honor each chosen path, just as expect my path to be honored. Be true to yourself. No one can take advantage of you without your permission. Think seriously about what your choices are to be. Then choose. It is that simple. There are always ways to make it work. It may require effort but you are worth it. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have regarding how to survive in a SAD household. Light and Love Ramona in Renton .
