Guest guest
I have my first bad cold in years ... stuffed up nose, headache, sore throat,no appetite and low energy. That will teach me to eat chocolate cake and cooked food! The most noticeable symptom (i.e., nasal drip - hence the sore throat) started yesterday morning, but I was feeling edgy and stressed on Monday. I've been resting, drinking water, and ran the vaporizer last night. Today I got a little fresh air and sun. I'm avoiding the usual cold medicines ... except for a couple of Halls menthol throat drops. I'm not up to doing much research, so I figured I'd try my luck here. I did make a smoothie last night from carrots, celery, kale, apple, nectarines, parsley and a little ginger - it's been my only nourishment today. Does anyone have any suggestions or recipies to help clear me up? Here's what's at my disposal: kale, carrots, garden onions, parsley, avocado, garlic, cucumber, tomatoe, peppers, zucchini and fresh rosemary, sage, basil, dill, fennel. Fresh grapes and nectarines also. - should-have-gone-raw-already Mary
Guest guest
Wellness formula (mix of herbs) available at PCC or Wholefoods, goldenseal, colodial silver, eccenacia, and Vitamin C and Zinc along with juice fasting, or at least smoothie fasting with garlic added in for at least 3 days starting out adding veggie broth (hot) soups and tea. Also doing hydrotherapy (turning on shower from hot to cold) and also going to the women's spa (which is right near you in Lynwood) and you can do hydrotherapy there in 5 pools going from hot to cold as well as using their sauna (to detox), and the steam room (to clear you up.) Also using their different hot rooms for detoxing well help too. It is pretty cheap to go for a day. Hope that helps. Call or email me with any questions. Guest guest
I would say fast, do not eat anything. Drink only clean pure water and rest until symptoms pass. Shari

Guest guest
" I would say fast, do not eat anything. Drink only clean pure water and rest until symptoms pass. " Shari Very good advice, Shari. Mary -- Colds are the body's emergency elimination valve. Suppressing cold symptoms, regardless of the method, amounts to stopping the outflow of waste. A cold is the way that a SAD-eater's body deals with the dangerous accumulation of waste matter. When new raw fooders experience cold symptoms, it's the body using the freed-up energy from the new diet to catch up on eliminating old stored wastes. I wrote a brief Q & A about colds on my website that may be of interest, here: http://www.rawschool.com/commoncold.htm. Hope you feel better soon! Guest guest
Get a small glass jar, put a hole in the lid and stick in a straw. Chop fresh organic garlic and immediately put it in the jar (much of the allicin is lost through air exposure). Using the straw, inhale the garlic fumes through the mouth and exhale them through the nose. I haven't tried the jar method yet (I've used garlic fumes without the jar method), but I know someone who does with success--I'll try it if I ever get another cold (positive thinking). I figure that aside from annoying symptoms (which serve the purpose of " flushing out " the viruses)colds go away without any help at all as long as my immune system is good (though it may be temporarily low since otherwise I wouldn't have gotten a cold) and I listen to my body (resting when it needs it, etc.) and eating healthy. If I get a cold, I immediately check what I've been doing or not doing to stress my immune system and change it or learn from it--sometimes it's just allowing myself to become stressed over something, usually something that doesn't matter in the whole scheme of my life. I also believe a temporary low-grade fever shouldn't be treated (for myself) as it is my body's way of raising the temp enough to kill " germs " that aren't tolerant of higher temps. I really like to let my body work it's problems out with a little help from my mind and spirit. Good luck. --- mjsparling57 <mary1957 wrote: > I have my first bad cold in years ... stuffed up > nose, headache, > sore throat,no appetite and low energy. Guest guest
Hi Mary, The age-old solution still works: drink plenty of water, lie down and rest (and in particular, close your eyes). Eat nothing at all (other than the water). Do this until tomorrow morning. That is usually sufficient.Your system will cleanse itself, if you will get out of its way. Just trust Nature's design.
