Guest guest
If you don't mind spending a lot more money, I'd recommend a plastic sprouting container I just discovered this summer. It comes with inserts and a vented lid that facilitate rinsing and draining. So much easier to use than the regular jars and great for traveling. I keep mine upright on the kitchen window sill (north facing so it doesn't get direct sunlight) and it produces fantastic sprouts everytime. But it does cost $10, order it from www.uncleharrys.com <http://www.uncleharrys.com> . http://www.uncleharrys.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD & Store_Code=\ UHNP & Product_Code=64005 & Category_Code=NU-64 <http://www.uncleharrys.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD & Store_Code\ =UHNP & Product_Code=64005 & Category_Code=NU-64>
Guest guest
I like to go to thrift stores and buy quart canning jars, then I find new lids and rings at Fred Myer or somewhere where you can also often find the quart jar screw on sprout lids. (the rings and lids are handy when shuffling sprouts to refrigerator storage) I find glass jars convenient and run them through my dishwasher when done, so to clean them really well free of any mold etc., or use cheesecloth with rubber bands for the top (not quite as hygienic but you can throw the cheesecloth out after a while) Janaki - " mjsparling57 " <mary1957 <RawSeattle > Friday, November 03, 2006 2:04 PM [RawSeattle] Re: looking for sprouting jars > > If you don't mind spending a lot more money, I'd recommend a plastic > sprouting container I just discovered this summer.
