Guest guest
Hi all, I realize that " detoxing " is a highly individualized thang. But I've been raw for a month or so and have experienced absolutely NOTHING WRONG. No headaches, no flu-like symptoms. The only thing I can say that's changed is uh...mmm....let's just say that the plumbing is working like a charm.....like a VERY WELL oiled machine :-) Is it possible that I can make the transition without any downside? brief history: I'm 56 and have been eating like a truck driver most of my life (all the garbage known to modern man...and then some). PS: I do not have any experience yet with that vibrancy, energy, walking on clouds sort of feeling, sleeping only 5 hours a night thing that I read about. Thoughts? Experiences? TIA, rookielynn
Guest guest
rockielynn, thank you for sharing and questioning the journey. you are doing a beautiful thing. is not the plumbing " working like a charm " not a sign that you are honoring your body and your body is thanking you? do you need more proof that you are doing the right thing? is not the thought of feeding your body like a truck driver something to dance about? you are in the perfect place. love yourself and your life and you will have everything you need. peace! d l w Check out the all-new Mail beta - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster. Guest guest
Tia, I would love to here exactly what you are eating on a daily basis....Share? .... If you are not experiencing detox it could be that you would need an intence raw detox like phase one of Gabriel Cousens or that you are such a " VERY WELL oiled machine " you are eliminating as faster than it can create a reaction. Kudos A month is not long ....maby you will be slow to start detoxing It takes time to start eliminating the built up crud. Just some thoughts. Around noon to 3:00PM piece of fruit, apple, banana, orange, pear (organic except for the orange). Then late afternoon to evening: 1 or 2 huge whopping salads. 3/4 of the bowl organic greens, chopped apple, chopped pear, maybe grapes, almonds or raw cashews, handful of raisins, dressing of mashed banana & kiwi (yummy) with a tablespoon of flax seed oil. One person wrote as you did, that if I felt detox deprived :-) try a juice fast. It's not that I'm trying to detox, exactly, it's just that with 56 years of SAD, I'd think I'd just go immediately into major detox. Actually we are in the middle of moving from Florida to Bellingham so with all the packing and so forth, I think I should be grateful I'm not in the throws of detox. I was just curious what others have experienced regarding detox. I did read in David Wolfe's (sp) book that for every year of SAD it takes a month of eating raw to cleanse yourself. If that's the case I'll be cleared out in June, 2011 :-) Thank you for your reply, rookielynn

Thoughts? Experiences? When I went raw, I had no obvious detox symptoms. What I noticed was what was missing. I stopped getting " colds " and " Flues " . There have been a couple times that I had some flu symptoms, but that was after eating foods prepared by others that may have had nuts, etc. that were not actually raw. Before going raw my old high blood pressure would return when I was at a high altitude, such as Colorado. That stopped after going raw. It stayed at " normal " or slightly below. I had been vegan for many years prior to going raw and also was doing a cleanse at the beginning of my transition, which may have had an effect on my symptoms (or lack thereof.) Guest guest
Rookielynn. It would also depend if you were having any symptoms before ( health concerns) ? Tired and toxic feeling or minor symptoms. If that be the case I would cut out all the fruit for three weeks and follow Cousens faise (spell check please ) one diet....to stop the fermenting,( you are just feeding the pathogens and will not feel a detox.) then slowly add the fruit back and enjoy ! However if you had no symptoms and just changed your diet because it was good for you....do continue:) This is just my opinion and I know there may be one or two on this list that would have other ideas for you. wishing you the best in Florida ! Guest guest
>Hi Jeff, Thanks for sharing your experience. So you attribute your normal blood pressure with going vegan and stabilizing by going raw vegan? That's great. Were you on any medication for that previously? I have a couple of friends that battle high blood pressure with meds. The meds are having a deleterious effect on them (sluggish, some muscle pain, leg cramps) I'd love to offer them a way to get off the meds. I'm a low blood pressure kind of gal so I can't say " just look at me " . Thanks, RL >When I went raw, I had no obvious detox symptoms. What I noticed was >what was missing. Guest guest
i used to have chronic candida and now nothing.i eat up to 45lbs of fruit a day. high sugar and greens and a fat fast will keep your energy super high so you can train like a world class athlete, have stable sugar levels and not go off the deep end and start eating a tonne of nuts, fat or cooked starches that so many sugar paranoid people seem to end up doing. i travel the world and all the happiest, healthiest, beautiful sweet n juicey crew i meet are fruit demons of the highest order! lol! life is sweet. go low fat, cos thats were its at. im yet to meet someone to prove nature wrong. EVERY person ive every coached with candida does better on super high sugar and greens and maybe an avocado or handful of nuts a week or 2.
