Of course it would be individual what people would put on the bracelets, depending on beliefs of diet and healthcare/treatment, but here are some basic ideas: No medications No cooked foods No animal products No artificial ingredients As many raw foodists may be very sensitive to some of these things, they could get quite sick as a result. Some of us may not know how sick we would get from them, but aren't interested in taking the chance. Note: many meds, including naturopathic meds, include animal products. Guest guest
Hi all, I've thought about this too. Do you think in an emergency situation, hospital workers would actually follow what was on the bracelet? Especially the no medication part? Guest guest
Good question. I found a website that will generate an ID card that you can print out. Go to: http://www.medids.com/free-id.php See also http://www.medids.com/format_guidelines.html where guidelines are given for what to put on the card. The whole point behind having an ID card is to alert medical personal to any health conditions and/or allergies that you have and what, if any, medications you are taking. And if you are healthy, it can provide an emergency number and doctor's number for contact purposes. Using an ID card in order NOT to get " treatment " (i.e. drugged) is not the intent of the card, so requests of this nature may not be honored. That would be a question for someone to ask an EMT or emergency room doctor. If I were to have one, I would say something like this: Strict vegetarian, I use no medications. Especially the no medication part? I don't know. I suspect they would have to honor it, especially when concerned for liability (which could work both ways.) There may be official guidelines and requirements regarding medic alert bracelets. If someone has the time for the research...
