awhile since I've had one. Makes me hungry.

Good morning, Renata! It took me some 50 _years_ after I first read

about it in a book about missionaries to try one. All that

anticipation and desire finally paid off! I wasn't sure what I was

supposed to be tasting even with all the descriptions, and there was

no one around to tell me if it was a good one or not. And from the

reactions I got at work, I couldn't get a second opinion. One other

person agreed to taste it but that's all she would do. Since it wasn't

a good combination with what she'd already eaten, she belched it all

afternoon. Yet another reason for proper food combining!

Have a good day and if it's a durian day, let us know how it goes!

Hi Tommie

I bought mine in Flushing NY, where almost every market is Asian. I opened

it and ate the pulp, but it did not taste good to me at all. The smell

wasn't as bad as the taste, maybe mine was not ripe? It was easy to open kind

of

soft, I used a knife to split it in half. Do you like the taste? It tasted

like onions to me.

Wish I was close enough to help you out with it, Renata! I tried to

buy one yesterday but the only Asian market reasonably close to me was

out. I wanted it to help me celebrate my raw anniversary.

I find that the flavour of durian varies wildly with the individual fruits.

Some are overwhelmingly " cheesy " and some are wonderfully " creamy. "

I hope that someday you come across a delightful one.

Hi

My Durian had an onion taste, is there any way I can pick a better tasting one

by the look?

It has an undertone of onions or garlic and I do like it!

Cristina,

I'm a Seattle expatriate, but I still know the places to go.

In downtown Seattle you can find them in Chinatown at several Asian stores.

In Kent you can find them at the Great Wall (E. Valley Hwy. and S 188th) at the

Valley General Hospital exit from 167

Others will be able to direct you to some of the more obscure or recent

purveyors.

Just about any Asian market will have it. Usually it is frozen, there are some

tips on thawing it - might even be in the FAQ for this list.

Good luck,

Nick Hein

Hello Everyone,

Is there a place in Seattle area where I can find Durian? I've never

taste it before but I heard so much about it.

Thank you,

Thank you Nick! I will try the one in Kent first. It's very close to my house.
