Guest guest
" Right now my digestion is so messed up I need to blend the seeds or nuts into a smooth crème (which I pour over other stuff) so I can successfully get the protein into my bloodstream. Whole dry nuts are really hard to digest, even if you try to chew real well. " I'm glad someone brought this up. My digestion is bad as well. Nuts are very hard for me to handle unless I make them into a nut butter. There's a lot I have to do in order to get my digestion back on track and the eaiser I can make it right now, the better. I can imagine a recovering alcoholic would have this kind of trouble too. What raw foods aid in digestion? Thanks, Tanya
Guest guest
" Specifically, papaya and pineapple have enzymes that help with digestion. " That explains why the first time I tried to go raw, I was eating 4 pineapples a week. This go around I'm having a much easier time with it all. Can I say out loud that I'm taking Nora's class, because I'm going to. What a difference her help makes. I see where I went wrong the first time around. I have 4 kids and a spouse, none are raw. But she's giving me strategies and debunking myths. This is truly the best path I have taken. Being on the list here is also really helpful. There seems to be so few people out there that understand what this process is about. Tanya G _._,___
Guest guest
Hi Tanya, Kiwifruit also have digestion enzymes, but not as much as in papaya and pineapple. The acid in the pineapple and kiwifruit also aid in protein digestion since that needs an acid balance. Right now my digestive tract is too irritated to handle the pineapple, but seems to do okay with a few kiwifruit every few days. I think its the acid in the pineapple that is a problem for me, however if the lining of your digestive tract is damaged enough to damage the mucus lining, the enzymes could contribute to the irritation of the lining. So I'm not sure if its the enzymes or acid in the pineapple that increases the irritation. What I do know is that I can eat the kiwifruit, and that this adds nutrition from an additional plant family to my diet. May your day be filled with clarity, grace, progress, and warm laughter, Roger - " Tanya G " <tanya.gunby <RawSeattle > Wednesday, February 28, 2007 2:14 PM Re: [sPAM] Re: [RawSeattle] Raw Vegan Alcoholic & blood sugar and cravings > " Specifically, papaya and pineapple have enzymes that help with digestion.
