Guest guest
I'm looking for input on avocados. I am still in beginner mode, not even close to 100% raw. However, the one food I can really dive into is avocados. Making guacamole and using it for a vegetable dip is one of my favorite lunches. I'm worried that I might be eating too much of them though. I could eat them every day...all day... health risk??
Guest guest
I'm newer to this too. I'm now 100% raw and started out eating 2 avocados a day, now I'm down to one a day or every other day. I think over time I'll watch my fat intake, but as I was told, what I'm eating now, even if it is higher in fat, is much better than what I was eating before. When I was eating two avocados a day, I was also eating a lot of macadamia nuts. I've already gone down one total size so it's not making me maintain or gain weight. I've just naturally moved on from wanting the high fat to other things. If you're not totally raw, I don't know what the risk might be in conjunction to what you're eating that's cooked, but I'm sure you'll get a lot of input. I find with all raw foods I go in stages, sometimes I want more oranges and I'll eat a ton of those. Sometimes it's 4 bananas a day. Lately it's cucumbers. Within time you may get tired of eating them and move on to something else. Tanya -------------- Original message -------------- " Tina " <1radtech I'm looking for input on avocados. Guest guest
Mostly, listen to your own body. In theory, " high fat " content foods are not ideal. I feel better with less sugar and lower fat, but I enjoy sweets and fats. If I go a few days with low fat and/or low sugar, I begin wanting " more " . I usually want something heavier. The compromise is to cut back a bit. In a salad, instead of using a whole avocado, I'll use half, etc. If I compromise well, I can feel well and not have cravings, etc. for heavier or more complex foods. If you do eat " too much " you may be more lethargic, perhaps have bowel changes, etc. Just pay attention to the cause-and-effect relationship of the food you eat and how you feel. Adjust from there. The main thing for a newbie, is to stay raw (if that is your desire.) In that case, eat the avocados you need to, to stay raw. You will likely taper off later on. Guest guest
Pay attention to the reactions in your body. Usually if I eat a lot of something for a sustained time, I will lose taste for it and stop eating it for a while. It's the way my body tells me, " OK, stop eating so much of this!
