Guest guest
Heads up to anyone who is chemical sensitive... the new place has that new paint (perhaps other materials) smell. I was there prior to the painting and had no problem. I stopped in briefly today, opting to come back at a later date. I'll give it time to air out. If I had stayed I would have had a problem. I noticed the effects right after going in. On the positive side, it is a great space and there were a lot of people there. I look forward to visiting in the future. Guest guest
Thanks for the warning Jeff. I was going to go there tonight......bummer . It really amazes me that a place like Chaco would not " at the very least " use Low/no VOC paint like from Best Paint located in Ballard. I hope they open the doors for fresh air. I am sure the new building just circulates the same air or at best has a " lame " fresh air circulation. I went to visit a friend and when she opened the door I asked if she had painted...she thought.. well yes, about two months ago.....I could still smell it, I had no idea she had painted. Guest guest
I've found that even " low toxicity " still gets me spacey/light-headed. I suppose it's just a more " natural " spacey/light-headedness! Jeff > Thanks for the warning Jeff. Guest guest
Yes, .....OH your funny My cousin used low VOC paint and I still smelled it two weeks later, but it is still a far cry from regular paint. Actually, be amazed no more! This is Heather, Chef at Chaco and we did indeed use low VOC paints. I spoke with Chris, the owner, today to verify that he specifically bought this paint because it was the lowest VOC on the market. We have put a LOT of thought into the building of our new home in order to make it spacious, enviromentally friendly, and comfortable for all. Unfortunately there are chemicals related to building a new space other than paint that are not available in lower " off-gassing " forms, like pipes and sealants and the like. Chris, Lois (our Executive Chef), Chelan and I have been working all of our waking hours in the space for the last week, along with a revolving crew of supportive and loving friends and family and contractors. All of this time, despite cold temperatures, we've had all of the doors and windows open and the newly installed ceiling fans going. The comfort, health, and safety of our community of customers is very important to us. Hope to see you all there. BTW, don't miss out on the bathrooms! They're beautiful and huge! If it weren't for all the other great stuff I might just move in! Love and Light, -Heather
Guest guest
--- Thank you Heather for clearifying that. I guess I wont have to wait as long as I thought to come see the new place, even if at first I have to get it to go....So glad to hear the windows open, so many of the new buildings dont All of this time, despite cold temperatures, we've had all of the doors and windows open and the newly installed ceiling fans going.
