Guest guest
Roger - Well let's see, scotch, gin, bourbon, to name a few all used to take my breath away. I'm thinking, yes, especially the dangerous things. No, to be honest not all things " bad " for me take my breath away but maca does. And yes, I've had that queasy feeling and a tigtening of the throat. The queasy came after the maca hit my stomach and the tightening of the throat came right after the loss of breath and just before the queasy stomach. Similar to the reactions of my body after drinking alcohol. But you know what I kept drinking alcohol for many years, I just pushed through the unpleasantness just like a lot of people do with something that is supposed to be " good " for them. Yesterday marked 20 years without a drop of alcohol or any mind altering drug, not even aspirin. Can't say the same for 100% raw food, but I'm working on it! Ever watch a baby with it's first cereal? They fuss and twist and purse their lips. They DO NOT want that cereal and well they shouldn't, it's cooked grains. My kids never had cereal (until they visited their gramas, both of them). Their first foods were bananas and avocados that I peeled and mashed for them. They never squirmed nor refused to eat until they were satisfied. Guest guest
Hi Shari, I'm wondering if each body has its commonly used language like people do. For instance some people use the words " cool " or " gross " and others never do. Frequently if I eat something I shouldn't, then I get a choking feeling, or sometimes a queasy feeling, but not a feeling of having my breath taken away. Is having your breath taken away a common reaction when you eat something you shouldn't? May your day be filled with clarity, grace, progress, and warm laughter, Roger - " SV " <shavig Friday, March 30, 2007 10:37 AM Re: Maca and Blue green algae question > Roger - the maca literally took my breath away and not in a pleasant way! > > Shari >
Guest guest
The first time I consumed some maca I had an interesting reaction. I used about a tablespoon in a large smoothie. I don't recall a negative reaction with the smell or taste (though, if I use too much I don't like the flavor). Later on, after drinking the smoothie (a couple hours?) when I used the rest room (#1) I had a strong burning sensation. I have had the same sensation after consuming too many mustard greens. They seemed to irritate my urinary system. Initially, I suspected the maca was an irritant (which it might be). It later occurred to me that the maca could also be a catalyst which aided detox. It could have been the detoxing which irritated my system. I haven't had the same problem since. I'm sure that maca is not a natural food for humans, though people may find/perceive (medicinal?) benefits (symptom alterations). I also recognize that all these natural plants/herbs on the planet are here for a reason. Jeff
Guest guest
In regards to babies, before my 4th, I read an article where a vegan mom took her baby to the pediatrician. They were talking about introducing meat into his diet. The doctor told her to disguise th flavor because the meat tastes " dead " to the baby. Huh. With my 4th, he chose what he ate. I have underestimated babies and kids in the past, but now not so much. Tanya -------------- Original message -------------- " SV " <shavig Ever watch a baby with it's first cereal?
