Hi Lyd,The best deal can still be found at VitaMix.com unless you knowsomeone who has access to a PX (Military Shopping). VitaMix also hasrefurbished ones with warrenties and are in very good shape.Elaine , "lydyybuggin76" <lydyybuggin76 wrote:>> Greetings,> > Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best place to purchase one with > the best deal? Thanks for the quick responses! I forgot the PX option! My father is

a Ret. Col and my folks go on base all the time! Additionally, I

will call Dr. Natural as well!

I left the DC/Maryland area for a little while and had been hanging out with some raw food folks in California. A lot of the folks who are trying to save money have been purchasing Jack LaLane's new Healthmaster 100 (http://www.healthmaster100.com). I have not personally used it but for the price of around $150, I personally would take the chance with it. There is a video/audio on the website comparing it to the Vitamix. It supposedly does all the same things and is made with the same types of parts and motor. If any one purchases one, please provide us some feedback. http://www.healthmaster100.com/Kat

Also, I heard Costco has a good price on the Vita-Mix and it is on sale there from time to time. Once in a while people sell them on Craigslist but that happens more on the West Coast than in the East. Kat

Hey Kat,

This Health Master 100 looks great! If I didn't already have a Vita

Mix, I'd jump right on it. I would suggest any member out here

who's in need of a high speed blender/juicer to consider purchasing

this item.

Thanks,

Elaine

If the healthmaster100 does not comes with a plunger like the vitamix, that would be a great disadvantage and Jack Lalane puts a lot of money into promotion and marketing which makes me wonder how much money goes into the quality of the products if their main purpose is to make more money?

For example-Jack Lalane may have one of the best selling juicer but not the best juicer for the prices he charges as compared to other juicers with similar features such as breville or L'equip juicer.

Be an educated consumer-go to www.discountjuicers.com and review the comparison charts,as well as the reviews from actual customers for blenders, juicers, etc.

Then call the actual company for the wholesale price.

The Health Master 100 does, in fact, come with a plunger but in my

opinion, that's not the most important issue here. During an attempt

to transition to raw, the quality, higher priced items with all of the

bells and whistles aren't always immediately affordable. I know a few

people who jumped right into outfitting their kitchens with everything

from juicers to dehydrators along with the highest price tag and

sadly, decided that raw wasn't for them.

It's perfectly ok to start small, realize progress, then take steps

to suit up with the best.

Initially, most believe that transitioning is going to be such a

dreaded task that causes them to spend longer ours with food prep and

much more money on food. Arriving at a rawfood lifestyle requires

consistancy, creativity, discipline and serious desire.

We burned out Juice Man, Juice Man II, Oster, Hamilton Beach and a

dehydrator from the thrift store before we were able to move on to the

more expensive items. But is was fun learning and changing our

lifestyle. One of my mottos has been " anything worth having is worth

waiting for. " This will also keep you from going overboard then

deciding, NO.

Yes quality is important but it is more important when you're sure of

what you need.

for $150 you get a 60 day warranty with the Health Master 100....

however, you can go over to Costco and pay approximately $359 for a brand new Vita Mix 5000 and get a 7 YEAR warranty........

which sounds like the better deal?

I understand what you're saying... I already purchased it and if it

fails to meet my needs, I'll slap it on Craigslist or Ebay. I'm still

learning how to uncook anyways- and the fancy dehydrators and such in

my kitchen are collecting dust. Gonna take baby steps... I always

know I can call my Mom or Dad and get it from the PX, since someone

gave me that 'gem' of an idea! Thank you for your insight, though...

Cheers,

I am not saying that the Healthmaster is or is not a better deal than the Vita-mix. I was just suggesting, similar to Elaine, that not every one has access to a military base or Costco and not every one has $300 bucks to spend on a blender. My main objective when spreading information about raw foods is to help it be accessible to more people regardless of income. Expensive equipment should not prevent more people from being healthy. And like Elaine said, when people are just getting started there is no reason to go out and buy a bunch of expensive equipment you might not use. In California, so many people purchase these products, never use them and then resell them. Like Elaine, I burned through several cheaper blenders before justifying the cost of a Vita-Mix. I called Healthmaster and although there is a 90 day warranty that comes with it, there is a 3 year extended warranty for $15 and a 6 year extended warranty for $30.

In addition, when you call, they will offer you $30 off the price. So for $174.96, it covers the 6 year extended warranty and shipping ($144.96 with shipping and a 90 day warranty). The person I spoke to is Lauren/Operator #32 at (973) 287-5167 if another rep does not offer the $30 discount.

Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell.

Cuisinart has a very fine blender . It is the blender for most professional; Chef's It works as well as Vita Mix .

It does not heat or Cool. It just blends very well Cost under $100.00
