After a long stint vegan, partly raw I fell in one half-crazed minute

and downed turkey. I couldn't help it. My body was literally starved

for protein, which makes me feel that I'm not able to get the proteins

I need from badly raised crops in the Middle East and the only option

I do have is via consumption of my friends. Is that horrific or what?

I felt my body was starving. And it probably was/is. I felt calmer and

more grounded after. In these parts just as a mention - it's very hard

to get high quality organic food. The small amounts they do grow here

are either exported or saved for some specialista cliche group of

wealthy elitists. Which leaves the poor pickers and scratchers with

mouldy crumbs or over ddt'd, wormy, low-energy produce. Unless I grow

it by myself which I'm trying to do - right now.

I think also it needs to be mentioned that I've suffered throughout my

life with pernicious anemia and all sorts of blood disorders - I

really do need to get my strength up without compromising my wallet

either. Any thoughts? Well appreciated - take care and be well. Joy

Have you tried whey protein? You'd need to get a good quality whey like Natural Factors. I have had those same feelings and I struggle with getting enough B12 also.

First - don't feel guilty! Goodness, you've been doing great!

I don't know if you can order things on-line from where you are, but I have found a green rice protein meal replacement powder that I like a lot

and it gives me my B vitamins. It is called: Peaceful Planet: The Supreme Meal. I don't have it every day, but often and I make it into a green smoothie

with a banana, water (or fresh squeeze oj), and maybe some berries. I would also say that you can take Probiotics if you can get a good variety and they help make

B vitamins and vit K in your intestines.

You may want to make sure that you are getting enough calories and a variety of fruits, veggies, nuts & seeds. Because I have issues with nuts and seeds,

I find I will do much better if I have some seafood every now and then. But you know, if you end up being 95 % raw - that is truly awesome and you should feel great about it.

Some others may have give you more ideas. We are all different in our nutritional needs and so don't throw in the towel if in your case you need to tweak it a bit for you.

Blessings,

Nancy

I posted a message recommending whey protein and just learned (or reminded) that whey is from cow's milk. I apologise for suggesting an animal product. Whey was recommended to me by a very good nutritionist that knows I'm vegan, so I automatically thought it was plant-based.
