Hey Kat – Sea Moss

recipes (Vegan Cooked and Raw)

Ill do raw first since

this is the group.

First clean off the irish moss seaweed thoroughly. You got to wash it really good to get

off the sand and other natural particles from the sea. Next you soak it in a bowl of water over

night, I put it in the fridge. In

the morning the moss will have swollen up and you can then put it in a vitamix with nutmylk or by itself

with water. Blend until

smooth. You can add the sweetner of your choice and some essence like –

vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.

Blend into a pourable smoothie.

A regular blender doesn’t work because it doesn’t breakdown

the skin of the moss fine enough like a vitamix will.

The cooked version: Wash of moss again the same way. Then boil the moss in a pot of

water. The moss will have swelled

up even more that when it was soaked.

Let cool. I even have put it

in the fridge. When you take it

out, it appears to have gelled up like jello. Take a huge chunk of it and blend with

soy or nut mylk, sweeten, and season with essence.

Let me know how it turns

out. You can buy the moss at any Caribbean market. The Sea Moss they sell ready made

contains Cow Milk.
