Can I use a food processor instead of a Vitamix or Blendtec?

People sing the praises of Vitamix and Blendtec when it comes to green

smoothies. I know they are amazing machines, but I am on a budget.

 

Is there any reason why I couldn't use my food processor instead?

I use my Oster blender that I bought from Walmart for 40 bucks. I had it for a year now and its still going strong. It may not be as smooth as the blentec or vitamix, but my smoothies are smooth enough where there are no chunks. I can relate to being healthy on a budget. Congratulations on your smoothie journey.
