I used to be a vegetarian when I was 15 and kept up with it until I was in my late 20s. Then, I stopped and started eating some meat again. I was having such aweful allergies back then, too, and I never made that connection. Not until 2 years ago when I stopped eating the meat again and they seemed to miraculously disappear. I didn't notice it right away, and then one day it dawned on me that I had made it thru spring and summer without one allergy pill. Makes me wonder or if it is side affects from the antibiotics and hormones they inject into those poor doomed animals. *sigh* Anyway, whatever it is, I am so much happier now! Thanks for sharing your encouraging story. It is wonderful to hear I am not alone in this discovery. Namaste. ~ P_T ~
Guest guest
I have also noticed that vitamins on a daily basis helps with those allergies. It takes about 2 months to really feel the effects from them. It could also be you may have been allergic to some of the foods you were eating. My son was allergic to bananas. --- patchouli_troll <patchouli_troll wrote: > , " Phillip Schoenfeld " > <schoney@c...> wrote: > By the way hi, my name is Phillip. Guest guest
Well I only had allergies for about 6 weeks every year. They start around Mid august and last until the first frost. I was told I was allergic to ragweed. Maybe they meant ragmeat? Guest guest
Not only do people feel better after they stop eating meat but many feel even better if they pass up dairy products. I still eat some dairy but have been told for years that it causes allergies and excess mucus. We limit our intake of it. I know that my middle son had problems with sinus and was drinking alot of milk and eating alot of cheese but when we backed off and all but stopped his intake it got better. Just a thought. I'm a firm believer in supplementation as long as it's good quality and being used by the body. Many products on the market make claims they can't back up. One word of advice ... check out the research and development the company has done on their products. Many companies quote what other companies have done. Saying things like: "Research shows" or "studies prove." Know what you are looking for and read labels. Many supplements aren't broken down in the body therefor making nothing more than expensive urine. Companies will also use parts of the plants that do not contribute to the product. Many supplements are made from certain parts of a plants. For example. some companies will grind up stems when it's the leaves that gives you a benefit. Again, if you want to see results, know what you are getting. One very good supplement to use for allergies is Alfalfa. Another might be Vit. C. but choose carefully. Vit. C is water soluble and needs to be replace throughout the day. Hope this makes sense. Robin
Guest guest
My husband and I are beginning an herbal detox program tomorrow which we will be on for 12 days. While on this program you cut out all dairy (except eggs and butter) and all wheat products, all sugar, and anything that contains or has on it, yeast. We have wanted to do this again for some time, but now is the time. We are both ready, and after this detox the dairy, wheat and sugars will stay gone from our diet. We feel better without them, but the sugar thing is hard to break. Since we will be doing a total cleanse, we will be through the withdrawal from the sugar as well as all the other 'crappy' stuff before we know it, and will never let it rule our bodies or our minds again. Guest guest
I use Quercetin pills and also a quercetin nasal spray. Aphrodite Blue <peacelovemusic wrote: I am miserable. I am in need of some kind of relief. I have very bad allergies that are coming back and hitting me like a ton of bricks. (what I mean by that is; now that my children are weaned I have gotten back all of my allergies in their FULL glory...all through pregnancies and nursing my allergies were very minimal) My allergies consist of nasal symptoms, like stuffy, sneezing, runny or itching. My eyes itch and tear. Sometimes I get head aches. Sometimes I get small hives on my face. I also will get itchy mouth, throat and ears. And there are probably more to it that I am forgetting to write down. There is also the tired factor from the body's fighting the allergies. And now I am looking for advice on what I might be able to take that will help this. I am allergic to most things. Mold, mildew, cats, dogs, most trees, most grass, dust, etc, etc. I have in the past used a lot of cayenne pepper on my food which helped slightly but not a ton. But since going raw, I can no longer handle HOT things. (and I loved it before) I have a prescription, but don't really want to use it. Besides I really don't prefer to use the pharmacy for what ails me. Vitamin C, or foods high in Vit C are good for settling down an allergy attack at the time (slightly), but I have yet to find anything else to prevent attacks or some thing that works better than C. Any suggestions would be greatly welcome. Thank you. Aphrodite Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail Beta.
Guest guest
Elchanan, Oh yes, I knew that there would be more questions. And this will be a long one: I am 36 in a few weeks, and am a stay at home mom. I have been raw since August 5, this year. I still have vinegar on my salads with garlic, but never have seemed to have a reaction to them. I am however allergic (yet only slightly) to kiwi, cherries, pineapple and sometimes bananas and peaches. For the most part I have started out my day with a 2 mango smoothie with cherries and a small amount of coconut (fresh). Ok, I know I am allergic to the cherries, but I have had a hard time resisting because it tastes so good to me. And as for my allergic reaction to cherries, it is mostly the itchy mouth, throat and sometimes inner ears (because they are all related). I never have any of the other reactions with any of the foods that I am allergic to. I generally will have a large salad for lunch which will include mixed greens, half an avocado, half an apple, some raisins, cucumbers, chopped tomatoes, and what ever other veggies I have that I might want to put on there. (radishes, green peppers, banana peppers, peas, cilantro, etc) I may snack on a raw bar mid day. One of the THINK ORGANIC bars. For dinner will have another salad. And if I am hungry a few hours later I will have another mango smoothie. Yet, a smaller one consisting of just one mango and maybe some blueberries. Sometimes instead I have melons. I live in an old home. A 1922 old church. There are plaster walls. It is dusty and the basement is musty. It has been raining the past few days and so my allergies have been non stop for those days. I switched to Earth Friendly cleaning supplies oh, 6 months ago. I use the Dr bronners soaps, dishmate dish soap. I still use the chemical shampoo/conditioners, but only until my order for our bulk natural food group comes in next week. I finally ordered organic shampoo and conditioners. I have to ease into these things as my husband and I am not in agreement as to the importance of them. I honestly thought he would flip when I brought in the natural cleaners. He insists on keeping his pledge for occasional dusting and windex for cleaning his car window. (as for going raw I am getting zero support from him as he thinks of it as an expense more than anything else, that and that I am just plain nuts!) I use a variety of cosmetics. Bare minerals and origins seem to be the healthiest. These are expensive items and things that have to be switched one at a time here and there. I do dye my hair every 3 months or so. I also use crystal spray deodorant. And only use the aluminum deodorants if I am " going out or going to be around other people closely " , as I have a very hard time finding ones that work for me natural or not. I also use natures gate or tom's of maine toothpaste. We do not have central air, we use oil heat. We do have a window air unit in the master bedroom, but that has only been on maybe 5 times this years. Ok, I think that I have been writing for what seems like hours and I might have covered all of your questions. Guest guest
Ok, I think that I have been writing for what seems like hours and I might have covered all of your questions. LOL, enjoyed this ending! I am wondering, after reading your description here...do you notice a difference in the intensity of the allergies based upon: - changing locations, as from home to car to store to library ... that sort of thing? - being in an air conditioned building? - emotional shifts? For example, if you and he (your husband) have a disagreement, is there a response in the allergies/congestion? Or perhaps something with your kids, another family member, something having to do with money, or decision-making around money or the kids? - interactions with your parents or others? - weather changes? - showering? Do you notice temporary improvement, for example, from a hot shower? Also, I'm interested in the " food allergies " . Can you describe, for example, where you get the cherries from, how ripe they tend to be, whether they likely contain pesticides, or are grown with commercial fertilizers? Do you eat any mushrooms, garlic, onion, salt, pepper (black/granulated, that type). Other than the peppers you mentioned, do you eat any other hot, spicy foods? Okay, enough for now! Guest guest
And here is another one that will take me hours to write...LOL (mostly because I will start and then do things with my kids and come back to it for a little bit and that keeps going all day long) My worst allergies tend to be on days when it is rainy or has rained over night. I have allergy attacks way before ever eating anything. I do not tend to have too many allergies in the car, unless it is lingering from an attack from previously. You know what, I am going to take a week or two to be more observant and make notes on my attacks...I'll get back to you. Thank you for your help. Guest guest
Yes. And my brother, whenever he got post-nasal drip with his allergies, would get strep throat (because it provides such a great growing medium for bacteria.) In which case you need antibiotics. Of course having the Claritin would also help with preventing the infection in the first place, wouldn't it? Why not try a different doctor? Guest guest
Does anyone have any ideas how to relive the dry throat that comes with Sinus irritation? I am starting to get congested and my throat is dry. I was caring for a sick infant and got sick myself. I have tried neti pot and tea but dont want it to progress further. Thanks!
