Guest guest
Ants can be chased by sprinking cayenne pepper where every you don't want them to go. We make a line of it across our doorway and it keeps them out fairly well. You have to re-apply now and then, of course. Guest guest
Not just pesky little ants - FIRE ants. They are brutal. They were all over the house. I've never seen an infestation like that before (lived with fire ants all my life). Nothing could be done but to slaughter their harmful little butts. I was tired of being stung in bed, on the couch, they were getting into the baby's crib. It was insane. Its only b/c of all the unusual flooding we had. It flooded in July which is very strange in this area. We usually don't even get rain in July much less flooding. Anyway, it stirred up the fire ants above and beyond normalcy. Cayanne pepper sprinkled all over the entire house would have made us equally miserable. Sometimes, there's not much choice but to pull out the big guns (so to speak). If the fire ants had their way, they'd of had us all for supper. Warmly, Allison --- The Stewarts <stews9 wrote: > Ants can be chased by sprinking cayenne pepper where > every you don't > want them to go. Guest guest
Let me just say that whatever you think you know about regular ants has nothing to do with fire ants. The dang things are nearly indestructable. However, Amdro, a bait, works really well. The fire ants got into my dog food bowls in the house and I was thinking their nest was under the house. Not wanting to spend $80 on an exterminator, I tried this stuff and it works great. I just put it in a foil dish and left it behind the freezer and under the sink , away from my critters. I have since been ant free and the dogs can once again eat their food in peace. Except for when the cats eat it.
