Guest guest
Windy Wiedemann I like Tofurky and have it fairly regularly. The texture is more hamlike and is much better served piping hot than warm. The stuffing that comes along with it is also very good. A great alternative to turkey. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am going to have to do some research and find out where I can buy one for this Thanksgiving. It sounds like it might be interesting. Usually I just let my husband cook the turkey for him and the kids, and I fix a veggie chicken patty or griller, and then eat all the mashed potatoes, veggie sides etc. ~F
Guest guest
Hi, What part of the country do you live in? I can pick up Tofurky from Whole Foods here in Texas. Whole Foods also owns Bread and Circus and a couple of other grocery chains. I do believe they are in all the major markets in the US - but could be wrong. If I remember correctly, I was able to obtain Tofurky in Massachusetts when I lived there. winder --- Feral <terebinthus wrote: > Windy Wiedemann > I like Tofurky and have it fairly regularly. Guest guest
Hi Shawn, Didn't read my e-mails yesterday so sorry for the delay. I just shared about the Whole Foods Tofurky connection. All their locations carry Tofurky including the Westheimer store. I normally go to the Bellaire Blvd one or the one on Woodway. It's in the frozen section, usually on the bottom shelf. Hope you enjoy it. Also, since you are a kindred Houstonian. Tien Ren Vegetarian Restaurant(corner of Westheimer and Hillcroft) has the most excellent vegetarian turkey that is made by their chef. They are buddhist and all their dishes are vegan. It is the best veggie turkey I have ever had and they serve it every Thanksgiving. A couple of years ago I took it to my carnivorous family Thanksgiving and they all liked it - and that coming from dyed in the wool anti-vegetarians. It might be worth your while to go there some time. They have a wonderful buffet at noon and in the evening. Delicious and I always end up being a bit of a glutton when I go there. Enjoy. winder --- " MatriXeno . " <matrixeno wrote: > Hello Windy, > Thanks for the information on Tofurkey. The company > says they distribute > them to " Whole Foods " . Guest guest
Whew - finally read all my e-mails. Thanks for the suggestion Pat. I've had a smoked variety of tofu which I think was put out by White Wave. Was very yummy and I hadn't thought about making a sandwich with it. I'll give it a try. winder --- Pat Meadows <pat wrote: > On Sun, 6 Oct 2002 09:34:51 -0700 (PDT), you wrote: > > >Greetings again, > > > >I like Tofurky and have it fairly regularly. Guest guest
Hi Windy, thanks a bunch on the Whole Foods info. and especially the Tien Ren Veg. restaurant info. That sounds great. A buffet that is vegetarian, it must be heaven. Going to other buffets is quite frustrating. I'm the fastest person in line, because I don't eat half the stuff there. Then the other half your never 100% positive if it has meat in it or not. LOL, sorry for the rant. Cheers, Shawn. >Windy Wiedemann <windygarden1 > > >Re: Re: Tofurky anyone? >Mon, 7 Oct 2002 18:33:54 -0700 (PDT) > >Hi Shawn, > >Didn't read my e-mails yesterday so sorry for the >delay. That's the brand name I bought, but couldn't remember. I think it makes lovely sandwiches, and they have several flavors - I can't remember exactly what flavors I tried, but I liked all of them. Lettuce and tomato (of course) improve the sandwich. Pat -- Pat Meadows Books, books! Low prices. It is very small-townish and I have never heard of a store called Whole Foods. I buy most of my vegetarian foods from Fred Meyer ( a grocery chain out of Portland, Or. that mostly serves the west coast) and also I get some at Price Chopper and a few local natural foods stores and farmer's markets. Pretty slim pickins around these parts.
