Hi guys

My name is Jessica, I'm a new member...I hope I'm sending this to the right

address. Okay, here's my deal... I'll be 20 in a few weeks, and I'm a Junior

at Texas A & M University. Biomedical science major, hoping to do the vet

thing. Keeping my fingers crossed (and my grades high)! I've been a

vegetarian for 8 years now. I actually started on Thanksgiving day. I

stopped eating meat cold turkey (pardon the sinfully horrible pun). I'm not

funny. Anyway, the rest of my family are not vegetarians, although they have

become much more aware of what they are eating, and all of them, including

the men, don't have much of a problem with vegetarian meals anymore. I

actually know very few people who swing this way, so it's nice to be able to

talk to people who think the way I do. As for the people that I DO know that

are vegetarians, most of them are women. In fact, I only know one guy who is

one, but he lives in England. I'm waiting for the day when I meet some

wonderfully charming guy who hates eating slaughtered animals....

And I've said enough now, I hope everyone has an awesome day! Thanks Jeannie

for introducing me to the group!

Hi Jessica. Welcome to the group. I hope you can get some useful

ideas here

for what to fix to eat and also some friendly support for your new

lifestyle

choice.

Good luck on the veterinary school thing. I know from my cousin's

experience

at Cornell that getting into that program can be difficult; don't

give up if it is

your calling. :)

Circe is indeed the goddess who lured sailors to her island and then

turned them into swine. However, she did finally relent and give them

directions to get home. No doubt this was the genesis of men being

afraid to stop for directions.

Now, you know of two guys.

As a veggie for 21 years, I understand your need for an expanded veggie

support community. I live near San Francisco and I've seen the veggie

community grow and decline during that time. Currently, it's booming here

and probably everwhere.

Here's a couple of links to get you started for finding that wonderfully

charming guy who hates eating slaughtered animals.
